One thing I was hearing is that there is a scene in Green Book (I haven't seen it) that upset some PC people, so the theory was that was going to prevent it from winning the Oscar for best picture. I guess being Netflix is more taboo than whatever got people's panties in a twist.
It was a weak year and this movie is a good candidate in any year, based on what the academy values. It would have been completely outrageous to leave it out.
Supposedly they were grumbling about the fact that they "bought its way" into the Oscars (by purchasing just enough theater time simply to qualify for the Oscars), but it's not the first movie to do that and it's a dumb thing to be upset about. Who cares why or how long it's in the theaters, that's not what the Oscars should be about.
Got around to watching Behind the Curve. The Netflix movie about Flat Earth believers.
I was pretty disappointed. Was hoping for some actual explanation of why they believe it's true or something they think proves it true since they also claim science can't prove them wrong. Little more than "science throws math at you, but I can point over there and see Seattle." And it's a big govt conspiracy.
If anything it seems to be more a documentary about the psychology of flat earthers and the failure of scientists to take the time and work with them to show them where they're wrong. The very small amount of science or experiments shown was a couple of failed experiments by flat earthers.
Nobody cares about the awards like they used to and this shows just how out of touch Hollywood is. Very few care about Speilbergs opinion on the matter. The academy is archaic, self serving and out of touch.I have to agree with Spielberg on this. The streaming services Netflix, Hulu etc.. has said in the past they are a Television Streaming Service. So their original programming series and films should be considered that and if nominated for something it should be for the Golden Globe Awards.
I agree, I haven't watched one in 5 or 6 years.Nobody cares about the awards like they used to and this shows just how out of touch Hollywood is. Very few care about Speilbergs opinion on the matter. The academy is archaic, self serving and out of touch.
Not hating on you. This elitist crap just annoys me. A lot of the streaming products are superior to big screen and network TV and they hate it
