Netflix

I'm not sure if you have watched season 2 yet but in one of the episodes I think 5 or 6 whichever one they do the photoshoot in there is a kid wearing a Tan visor

Im in the middle of season 2 and there is actually a group photo shoot with Fields and other GA players and Bailey is in it.

It should have gone to Roma or BlackKklansman. I liked Green Book but it wasn't as good as those; I probably would have given it to A Star is Born over it.

I haven't seen Vice yet so I can't commit. But Bohemian Rhapsody, Black Panther, and The Favourite were all definitely not the best. And If Beale Street Should Talk should have gotten a nom over some of them, or at least gotten one as well.

RE: Bill Simmons' theory for why Roma lost is that the old guard in Hollywood hates Netflix because it's shaking things up.

I'm pretty sure I've read some pretty big names in Hollywood have come out and said they don't think Netflix/streaming services movies should be eligible for the Oscars. So I don't doubt Simmon's theory.

Why would they nominate it then?

It was a weak year and this movie is a good candidate in any year, based on what the academy values. It would have been completely outrageous to leave it out.

Supposedly they were grumbling about the fact that they "bought its way" into the Oscars (by purchasing just enough theater time simply to qualify for the Oscars), but it's not the first movie to do that and it's a dumb thing to be upset about. Who cares why or how long it's in the theaters, that's not what the Oscars should be about.
