Agreed. The NCAA is wildly inconsistent.NCAA upholds penalties against UMass programs
UMASS gets punished for literally nothing.
Not a fantasy world, just a thought. And those schools knew exactly what they were getting in those players,In a word, No. Whatever the investigation turns up will focus upon those who were handing out improper benefits, and not players who received them. Whoever the Hell thinks having a ex-Tennessee on another teams roster will cause a voiding of that teams season is living in a fantasy world. That would likely and very quickly lead to multiple institutions forming another governing body, and leaving the NCAA.
Thanks! This whole thing is so muddy and the NCAA doesn't help itself when penalties vary wildly from school to school for basically the same infractions. On the GT thing, the NCAA investigated a player who sold a jersey, then put stiffer penalties in place because the AD told the HBC that the NCAA was investigating them. Apparently the AD wasn't supposed to alert anyone else at the school of what was taking place. All kinds of stupid.Ryan and the guys already covered this a while back on the podcast so yeah it is that simple and they can and did get away with it. As long as they don’t pay them to play themselves, they are in the clear.
Like Baylor and the rapes, they found the problem was systemic and not just limited to athletics. If it involves athletes the NCAA definitely gets involved.
He can't believe Wade is still coach.
Lack of control in a Covid year no way. And all the people involved were outed by the school and the university notified the NCAA. That seems far from lack of control seems like they acted fast even before the NCAA was aware and notified the NCAA. The don’t sound like lack of control to me. It sounds like instead of covering up Tennessee acted responsibly and took action. GBO!if we get hammered it will be for "lack of institutional control". Those responsible for the lack of control are gone so I don't know.
He must be legally retarded if he doesn't understand why he is still a coach.
The NCAA won't turn over information to LSU so unless or until there is a notice of allegation with actually proof of some type.... LSU can't just terminate contracts.
Of course, they're into year 5 on this and only last month interviewed Will Wade. And they would have to ignore the elephant in the room i.e. anti-trust violation in restricting trade. I have no idea Will Wade would handle if something did come down, but he would have standing and the ability to seek damages under the Sherman Act against the NCAA imo. In light of Alston, I actually think he could get preliminary injunctions.
Will Wade is either clean or he's got the biggest balls of anyone every stepping on a court... he don't give two ****s.
We'll see. All of this is going to end terribly for the NCAA... meaning their business.

I am sure that will be part of the argument. Tennessee lost a lot of its best players and played the 2021 season with 71 players on scholarship, along with firing the coach and pushing out the AD who hired the coach. You could argue that we could get “time served” and no loss of scholarships because we lost half our team in the transfer portal
Pretty sure he is not "legally retarded" as he is an MD and also has a PhD in Genetics. He just thinks that Wade is a scumbag. He must be legally retarded if he doesn't understand why he is still a coach.

Do those institutions not have a responsibility to monitor the athletes they allow into their program? Ignorance on their part is no excuse. It is not like UT was squashing the information surrounding the investigation. The NCAA has been involved from the start and is totally aware of what is going on and who is involved. If they had the info and allowed these kids to violate the rules and then play for other teams then they have violated their own rules.

I honestly think they’re perplexed as to what the hell to do with us. Have they ever had a major program turn themselves in for multiple major violations and can everyone in football basically in the process?Lack of control in a Covid year no way.
