I can say with confidence several teams involved in the recruitment of Tobias Harris wondered how Tony Jones could get so close to that family with the limited contacts allowed by rule. Just saying.
If, as has been swirling around the hoops rumor mill for some time now, Tennessee was using throwaway phones to keep daily contact with high profile recruits in response to losing Selby, rest assured it's a big deal.I'll look for that in the coming weeks. Still don't think it's a big deal. His family seemed relatively grounded during the recruiting frenzy.

Not sure how a coach that got a clean bill of ethical health would be a 10. That aside, this new basketball task force is making it a focus to hammer intentional rules violations. Can't imagine there are many things more intentional than buying throwaway phones to hide illegal contacts. If true, it's a 9. The only things worse would be outright payment of players or coordinated academic fraud.1 to 10, with 10 being USC under Floyd?

He was stupid enough to think taping a conversation with a 17 year kid and turning it over to the 'AA was a good career move. You tell me.
Yeah, lead assistant at a Big Ten school to over a decade in the sticks. I'm sure that's the career path Pearl had in mind.couple national titles at the lower levels, multiple sweet sixteens with multiple teams, and an elite 8.
Multi million dollar career just for coaching basketball.
Yes, terrible career move indeed, he'll never recover.

UCONN hasn't even filed their response to the Letter of Inquiry yet. Thus, the 'AA hasn't ruled on their infractions yet.Unless theres more to it than the phone calls, UConn got cited with worse this spring, and Calhoun said the worst part of that day was going to the dentist for a root canal.
But seriously, it seems like it would be hard to prove anything when it comes to disposable cell phones. the same things our own intelligence communities have problems with terrorists using.

Not near as hard to prove as you think when you can trace where the phone was sold. You think the 'AA is going to believe a story that a bunch of calls from the 865 area code to a kid from, for example, suburban New York City came from anyone other than the coaching staff?
