NBA Playoffs Thread

Only one of those 3 missed calls fits that description and he made the shot which they inexplicably took off the scoreboard. I hate Harden's manipulation of the game, but you can't give him those calls all year and then stop on game 7 of the WCF.

The one where he went around the screen wasn't a foul period. The others were the leg kick. He did the same thing last game during the collapse. Looking for those tick tack fouls instead of playing ball.

They were beating up on the Warriors all game . They just couldn't stop them. Klay had three fouls in the first few minutes. No one can act like the Warriors got favorable officiating. There were way more than three missed fouls on the Rockets.

Then why did they take away the basket? You have no complaint here. Either way, they got the call wrong and owe the Rockets at least 3 points.

The "leg kick" is a foul. It's a new rule as of last year. You can't get under a shooter, which Bell did. There is no disputing this. This is the Kawhi Leonard rule.

I thought this was the issue with the Rockets last night. They were getting roughed up to start the 3rd quarter with no penalty to the Warriors. Then their legs gave out and they couldn’t hit a shot.

Dantoni ran a small rotation all playoffs and those minutes eventually caught up to them. Tired legs definitely played a factor in those consecutive missed 3s

IMO, the reason the C's are the team of the future is they figured out something that maybe nobody else* had figured out. To be built for the playoffs, you need to fill your roster with guys that can switch and adequately defend both guards and forwards. GS has 5 guys like this, but one of them is hurt. Houston has 4 guys like that, and one of them was hurt. Cavs have 2 guys like that. Boston has about 8, when healthy, and they'll be able to keep most/all of them for the next 2-3 years.

*I'm not sure if GSW figured it out or stumbled onto it.

Yep - and a lot of that is effort. Undersized guys like Steph and Terry can do it if they are smart and give consistent energy.

But it’s what you have to have. The ability to switch on the perimeter and no one super weak link like Ryan Anderson.

Did anybody else notice there was no mention of "Clutch City" to be seen ANYWHERE, this postseason?

I'd be worried about how they'd gel and though that's a huge upgrade in D, they still don't have enough of it, IMO. GSW can go bigger against Cleveland, even if they have MJ, and that means they have more fresh bodies to throw at them (more than they had to throw at CP3, Gordon, and Harden) and guys to clog the paint. GSW would be OK with Jordan pulling up from 25' on a high screen.

Can’t guard Jordan in today’s hands off environment. It’s why comparisons across generations are dumb.

And LeBron would be bigger, faster, & more athletic in Jordan’s era against a bunch of unathletic white guys.

I agree comparisons across generations are hard, but conversely to your point, wing defenders are so much better today. Jordan would be bigger and stronger if he came up today, but I think they'd still present a different kind of challenge for him. How good would his D be without hand checking and with all this 3 point shooting? How would he do in a league where centers and PF's can actually do a decent job defending him outside the paint?

Jordan could still put up 30/game today but he was still getting 10 FTA a game. With all the switching and athletic wings/bigs he would idk if he would be putting 40 like some think. Especially with how much teams double in the post.

I wonder how good his 3 point shooting would be. It's not like he was one of the best 3 point shooters of his time, but it was seen mostly as something a specialist did. One interesting thing is if you look at his top 5 seasons in terms of 3PA's, they're also his top 5 seasons in 3P%, suggesting he's better with more reps.

I imagine he would be a good 3 pt shooter in today’s game due to the heightened awareness of the value in it.

All valid. Fun to hypothesize, dumb to statement emphatically one way or another.
