Cant believe i am going to say this but I think Magic would have a harder time adjusting than Bird in terms of just game
Lol I've said this to friends before. PG is so loaded these days, he'd have to guard the 3 or maybe even 4, even then teams would PNR to get him on the PG. And he'd struggle handling against all these quicker guards. IMO
IMO, the reason the C's are the team of the future is they figured out something that maybe nobody else* had figured out. To be built for the playoffs, you need to fill your roster with guys that can switch and adequately defend both guards and forwards. GS has 5 guys like this, but one of them is hurt. Houston has 4 guys like that, and one of them was hurt. Cavs have 2 guys like that. Boston has about 8, when healthy, and they'll be able to keep most/all of them for the next 2-3 years.
*I'm not sure if GSW figured it out or stumbled onto it.
Imagine Kareem playing today. The guy has the most unstoppable move in the history of sports. There is literally nobody playing today that could guard him. He was also a great rim protector. Kareem would probably average 40 points and 15-20 rebounds a game.
I think Olajuwon and Admiral would be monsters today, really agile and would be pretty unstoppable down low. Guys like Ewing and Zo would be less effective, but if J Val and Gortat can get 12-13 pts and 9 or 10 rbs per game, those 2 would be 18+ and 10 still. And Orlando Shaq would be a serious problem.
