It's been a narrative since before he was a rookie. I remember in 2002, ESPN commentators were predicting that LeBron will not have the same "killer instict" as the all-time greats, like Jordan and Bird. It became a big debate over the entire year (something for PTI and Around the Horn to talk about when they couldn't think of anything else).
Since a lot of those analysts have huge egos, they don't want to admit that they were wrong, so they continue to entertain the narrative. And it makes good debate for filler time. With 24 hours sports talk, you have to have filler time. The last 15 years has always been about LeBron. He's that huge.
