NBA Playoffs Thread

I have no idea what the Warriors are doing. I saw a stat that last night the two plays they ran the most were Durant in the post and Durant in iso. When they won game 3 by 40, their most-run play was Curry/Green pick n' roll. They're basically only playing 6 guys, and maybe they're too tired to run the offense.

It's not like Looney is playing that well. If they can afford to put him in, I don't see why they can't put McGee in for a few minutes here and there.

Especially since Capela and Tucker are really hurting them on the boards.

I just realized Kevin Durant will opt out and be a FA after this season.

I've been telling anyone who will listen that the Warriors have regressed because theyve spent too much time relying on him when Curry was hurt.

You could see it during the clip they showed of the GS bench last night. Kerr's trying to tell him to be like MJ and pass to Paxson, and stop immediately looking for his own shot. He acts like hes listening, walks away, and continues to look for his own shot first.

The dude wants the ball on every play all ******n game, until theres a couple minutes left in the fourth, and then he just finds a corner to hide in.

Redick was on the Bill Simmons podcast and he said the game is so much harder today than it was just 10 years ago. His age might be skewing his perspective some, but he said the tempo and and spacing makes it such a grind.

When has Redick ever played a single minute of serious basketball?

?

I like Redick both ways. He's limited on D but the effort is there and he's really good at defending off ball, fighging yhu screens, etc.

I agree they’ve gone way too much iso ball but I think that’s more of a reflection of the Houston defense and switching and less of selfishness from Durant. I will say he’s not playing as hard defensively as he did last year.

Honest question, if LeBron had won the 2011 Finals and was MVP of that series (and puts up normal Finals averages) and nothing else changes (he wins the other two with Miami, comes back 3-1 to beat Golden State) would any of you view him differently or view his legacy different? Or do you not think about that series anymore?

Theyre letting Durant play into exactly what they want.

They spend the entire game wearing Curry out and letting KD get good looks.

On offense, theyre forcing Curry to switch onto anyone he cant guard and then running iso straight at him as much as they can.

By the fourth, Curry's exhausted, and Durant suddenly realizes everyone's actually bodying up on him now, and the easy shots go away.

And he wilts like a *****.

Sure but Kerr isn’t helping out. He’s not showing any new looks. Where’s the Durant/Curry PNR? Where’s Klay off elevator screens and handoffs?

And I definitely agree about Curry and Houston’s strategy. It’s how cleveland beat them in 2016.

Also the Rockets are guarding harder than anybody I’ve seen against the Warriors. Even Harden is playing great defense

If you're the type to rewatch games, pay attention to their D on KD through the first 3 and a half quarters or so. He's the only guy theyre slacking off of. Defenders will act like theyre locking in on him, and then when he drives, they react like theyre staying with him, then back off and let him shoot.

And Curry's been guarded like this before, but Houston is going ridiculously small so that almost everyone on the floor is able to switch and chase on him.

Thats what happens when you have a hot headed moron like Dray pretending to be your only scoring threat as a big. Just don't need anyone with size to account for him.

As for Kerr, I'm just shocked.

When has Kerr ever had to beg a Warrior to play a certain way to fit in with GS's offensive scheme?

Is he scared of KD? The dude with less balls than he himself had in the clutch?

What I'm saying is, Durant thinks the team belongs to him and neither Curry, nor Kerr are doing anything to challenge him.

Curry probably doesn't want to piss off the dude he has to play with, and Kerr is giving him the classic superstar treatment, and letting him do whatever he wants because he's afraid of pissing off a superstar of that calibre, or he doesn't know how to deal with an ego that big.

I think most people who still hang onto that series are just using it as their best chip to bash Lebron. If they didn't have that, they'd shift the focus of their attack elsewhere. JMO

Its still an embarrassingly shameful series, dude. Sure, he's changed, and he isn't that same player anymore. But it was pathetic.

The funny thing is it's not even his worst series and they had excellent defenders to put on him. He was worse against the Spurs the first time.

It's fine to criticize him for it, it's just not really a trump card, IMO.

You still nursing that sump pump?

Nope, its fixed.

The Mavs series is considered such an embarrasing series for him because he spent quite a bit of time being locked down by a ****ing point guard. But you're right, what was worse than getting locked down by Terry was getting locked down by JJ Barea.

JR Smith is unbelievable garbage this series. I can’t believe he is still getting PT

Being friends with Lebron has his perks. I understand you occasionally get the streak from him, but his overall play is just so bad sometimes. At least give Osman a chance.
