Honestly, yeah. Only guessing though.
We can only speculate but I believe Oden was viewed higher than Davis.
Oden was literally compared to Shaq and was going to be as dominant as Lebron. As high as Davis was viewed, I actually think he was viewed quite lower than Oden. I remember Oden being pimped as much as Lebron. Maybe I'm completely off but that's how I remember it. I know Davis was considered really good but I don't recall him being considered one of the future dominant players that could go to the hall of fame. Oden was talked about like a future all-time great. He was apparently going to be unstoppable and dominate the league.
I don't know... I know Davis was considered the #1 pick hands down but I just recall Oden being talked about like he was going to be one of the greatest ever. Sucks he's been injured, though... I'm fine with him not helping the Heat as a Pacers fan. Davis though, he has shown that he is amazing. I actually think Davis has outplayed the hype he had surrounding him. If he keeps playing the way he is and his teams start winning, he could be an all-time great. We're talking hall of famer if he keeps putting these numbers up. And to think, he's only 21.
I actually saw on another forum where someone put Davis' stats this season side by side with Garnette's MVP season when he was 28. Davis' stats are just as good if not better. If you're 21 and putting up as good or better stats than someone like Garnette during an MVP season, wow. Garnette was insanely good. Soooooo good.
I really do think Davis is playing better than anyone ever thought he would and that Oden's hype was much larger. Again, maybe I'm wrong. I just don't recall Davis being talked about as if he'll be someone will dominate the league like Lebron or Shaq. That's how much Oden was hyped up. Oden was going to be unstoppable.
