I don't think Granger makes the Clippers any better.
Indiana is the favorite?
Here's the good news on that front...
The earliest the Pacers will face a non-crap team is the ECF. The East is so pathetic this year that barring any injuries between now and then, both Indy and Miami will be able to sleepwalk through the first two rounds and advance easily.
Huh? Nobody else in the east will be even somewhat competitive with Miami or Indiana.
I hadn't watched the Lakers hardly at all until earlier this week when they played the Pacers. I didn't realize till then that their injuries have left with a roster that basically consists of Pau Gasol and a bunch of scrubs.
They have the best record in the league right now and along with Miami are all but guaranteed a spot in the ECF, so I'd say that makes them ONE of the favorites. I'm still not completely sold they can actually win the title, but they have at least a decent shot. With a healthy D-Wade, Miami has show another gear over the past few weeks that we haven't seen from them yet this season. Up until a month ago, the Pacers had looked like they were clearly the best team in the East. Now I'm not so sure.
I don't see how Granger signing with the Clippers or Spurs affects their chances in any way though.
Regular season means next to nothing. It's going to be Indiana vs Miami barring something like an alien invasion.
I would say they are third or fourth on the favorite list.
I'd say they've got probably a 50/50 at beating Miami simply because it's such a favorable matchup to their style, but have less faith in them being able to beat a team from the West in The Finals.
Pacers have the better all around team, but it really depends on Paul George, IMO. Under playoff pressure I can totally see him trying to take on too much. The Heat love cutting the head off the snake. They thrive off that, and struggle against good team basketball. They struggled against the Spurs for that reason.
Yet they won the series.
