12 games for 100 minutes.
His per 36 is amazing 13 pts, 10 rebs, 1.4 steals, 2.2 blocks. Horrible assist-turnover ratio though 0-5
So stupid. This is the kind of rule for the sake of rules garbage that drives me nuts about sports. The black mask could have been iconic. It would have sold t-shirts, at the very least.
The only thing I can think that would make any sense at all is that they are worried he may headbutt someone with it. It seems their issue is with the color and not the material, though.
In a sport where revenue is driven by superstars, it's amazing to me that the league doesn't allow for more individuality.
Why would headbutting someone with a carbon fiber mask that would certainly withstand the impact be worse than headbutting someone with a clear plastic one that might shatter all over someone's face?
Would the plastic really shatter? I'm not saying it's legitimate, but it's the only line of reasoning that makes any sense at all. I honestly don't know that there is a difference between getting headbutted by carbon-fiber or just a forehead.
Any reason I have thought of is dumb, which is probably why they haven't offered an explanation.
