Nationalized Voting

The extent of nationalization with this admin (not just voting) is going to be a huge Pandora's box...
And if that's a forgone conclusion, why should Conservatives ask Trump not to execute his current authorities for conservative principals, if he can do them legally? If the Dems are already going to respond vindictively, Trump should just sit idly by and wait for it?

And if it's a forgone conclusion that the Dems would use the gift of leadership/authority vindictively, why should any moderate trust them with it in the future?

Requiring a valid ID or proof of citizenship to register to and to actually vote wouldn't be unconstitutional. It's just another federal power grab.
Wasn’t talking about the voter ID. Was talking about the idea of the federal government taking over elections. That’s the unconstitutional part and the bright shiny object of the day. If you believe Karoline Leavitt, the voter ID law is what he was looking for.

Just wait til the Ds get full control again. The Rs cant be mad if the Ds nationalize voting stuff to their liking since they opened this Pandora's box...
Do you believe that if the d get power back leaning POTUS, house, and Congress they won't do the exact same and more.mmhrll they started in 20...just so poorly done to failed because they l didnt don't legally

The Dems will absolutely use it to their advantage and abuse the hell out of it...

Agree. Box has been open for a while. But yes, this box really blew open big time in past decade...

I would say the VRA of 1964 and 2006 did more to open the box than anything. 1964 was the first time (I think) congress passed a law mandating how states run their elections, then the VRA of 75 blew the box open.

You're surprised that Trump's mastery of vocabulary is about three tiers below suspect? That's one of the main reasons I said:

There is almost always a great chasm between what Trump said and what Trump thought he'd said.
Agree. I am beginning to understand in my old age that I’m not too old to learn. I am learning that I shouldn’t get too provoked by Trump’s initial idiot statements and should wait at least a day for him to back away from the bombastic statement and get to what he was actually looking for. It’s pretty childish that he just can’t come right out and say it the first time but it is what it is. It’s a 🤡 show that we are dealing with.

Again, I dont disagree. This bill is just one example of a federal power grab under this current admin.

Ultimately the states should have the right to run their elections as they see fit and not to cave to the ego for someone that is still stuck in 2020...

OK. And...? What was your argument again? Was there something you wanted the Trump supporters to do? Some reason they should grumble about Trump legally and Constitutionally pushing for election reform that they have wanted for a long time?

I'm confused what your point has been, to be honest.

I think it was the 1800s. But your point is taken.

States run their elections as they see fit. That's my point. If states want prisoners to vote, so be it. If states want mail in voting, its their choice. If people dont like it, they can vote in new people in those states...

To be fair, we will need a uniform federal photo ID system. Yeah, that will go well.....

Well back in after an atrocious round of golf. But hey at least I’m playing golf in Feb.

It warms my heart to see just how widely this latest absolutely atrocious authoritarian big government idea from Trump is getting a well deserved rebuke.

Wish I was playing too. We’re still digging out of the ice storm. Turns out Trump was just kidding. According to Princess Karoline (Leavitt), what he really said was he wants national voter ID’s.

Sounds like POOTUS saw polling that widely rebuked it also then. So we get a “just kidding just kidding” reply. Absolutely on point because it’s obvious that nationalizing the entire voting process is completely equivalent with implementing a national voter ID 🤣
