Morgan Wallen trolling Kiffin 😂

He’s more country than Luke Bryan and many others. Plus, music evolves in all genres. Today’s “rock” music sounds nothing like Fats Domino. And sadly, nothing like the great hard rock bands of the late 60s-80s, either.

Yeah, I was checking out a playlist of Rock of the 2010s and after listening to about 5 of them, I was like what is this crap....then turned it back to ACDCs Back in Black....ah....all good again

Somebody has to say it...

NOBODY CARES WHAT YOU THINK COUNTRY MUSIC IS, OR WHAT MUSIC YOU LIKE.

Why do so many people think their music preference matters to anybody else?
So, you must think it's a trivial task to make your poop not stink.

“Heupel is looking for a quality offensive coordinator”.

How is this not casting shade on Alex G.?

Careful, my friend. I asked this same question in another forum on here and got absolutely lambasted for it because "durr hurr it was a joke and he took a shot at Kifin, he doesn't even know who our OC is". For the record, I agree completely. That tweet is definitely a shot at Golesh (who's a fantastic OC IMO), and Golesh > Kiffin by a LONG shot.

Music is both created and listened to for different reasons. Some will love it, most will ignore it, and some will hate it. I am trying to never comment on someone's musical preference because it doesn't have any bearing on my life. Also, if I do then I have to listen to the reasons why they music I love sucks in return :D

Listen to what you like, there is zero need to justify it.

Categories don't belong in music, imo. Why put limits on it?

Country Rap is an abomination

Real country music and rap actually have quite a bit in common. Both come from down trodden roots of an economically challenged populace. Tell stories using similar themes of being outlaws, booze, and women just from a different cultural perspective.

Modern Pop country is awful… but so is Modern Pop Hip Hop.

He's not a country rap artist, although he did just have a remix released with a rapper. It's not typical of him. Same could be said about Tim McGraw and Nelly.

Ryan Upchurch is county rap
Upchurch and Morgan are good, just like George and Merle! Go Vols!!! By the way seen Upchurches Vols Necklace, Legit!!!

Jason Isbell is my all time favorite musician. He wrote Cover Me Up and allowed Morgan Wallen to re record it. Both are solid imho but I also like Tyler Childers and Sturgill Simpson. Morgan is from Sneedville and is a huge UT fan—many of his songs reference the Vols.

Agreed. Good list.

If it is going to be categorized it should be based on the way it makes you feel. I like really high energy melodic music. It evokes the same feeling in me whether it is played on banjos and fiddles or screaming guitars.

Happy dudes a Vol and whatnot....but his most successful song ever by far is covering a Jason Isbell tune (Cover Me Up) and its piss poor compared to the original to be honest. Still wish the guy the best, despite his gator mullet....but there's a reason Jason has a signature line of Fender guitars. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery though, so...

Dolly speaks very highly of both Whitneys cover of her and Jack Whites "Jolene" though...so maybe Jason is thrilled someone else made millions covering his song. The mullet still gotta go though, thats a gator classic. Lolol

Frontman for American Aquarium. Cover me Up is essentially the autobiography of Isbell and Isbell’s version is insanely better.

Sup Bill. I honestly didnt even read the thread before i posted above bit just saw this comment. I get that music is mostly subjective, and everyone is entitled to their opinions...but Isbell is a generational talent in many peoples opinions. Fender doesnt throw around clout like they give him and his songwriting is amazing because he speaks from his own experiences. As in Cover me up, Elephants, different days, over seas, the list is endless. When looking at his body of work it seems he is objectively superior to MW and is lauded by musicians as well as songwriters and of course fans. Hate to come across as a fanboy or something...i am grown with kids in college and dont just love the guy or anything, but he writes songs with real meaning behind them in honest ways that I can certainly identify with. When cancer took my Dad a couple years ago, Elephant spoke to me in a different way than before and helped me finally grieve in due time. Other songs of his aptly capture moments in time from my days past and i can identify with Jason a little. I honestly believe that if dude was handsome he would be a huge, huge superstar selling out stadium shows rather than a big star currently who sells out arenas and auditoriums.

Anyway...couldnt sleep and read abd appreciated your post. Go Vols

Unfortunately, and with all due respect, I gotta disagree with ya on the bolded part (everything else is spot-on correct). Isbell strikes me as the type that would tell someone to kiss his *** if they ever told him what he could and couldn't sing, not to mention I can't ever see him using a snap track, unlike the nASSville created "country music singers" like Morgan Wallen and his ilk.

Why’s there a Morgan Wallen thread here? Didn’t he get cancelled for being exposed as a racist?

I have no idea WTH he is. I don't know if I have ever heard any of his stuff or not. I have a few friends who listen to country when I am around, but they all sound the same to me. Goes in one ear, out the other. And as to whatever he got cancelled for? Not even a blip on my radar.
