More Climate BS...

We should be building nuclear reactors regularly and never should have stopped. Some of the newer designs are amazing and very efficient with close to zero danger. I felt this way when my brother was just a kid. Now he is a nuclear engineer but unfortunately a Lefty married to a super Lefty who works for a "nonprofit" NGO that Dems use to pilfer public millions. Regardless, he has shown me some of the modern designs and they're amazing. Especially with the amount of energy used by Big Tech/ AI and its exponential increase, we should be building new reactors nationwide in almost every state in the Union IMO. Hog is spot on in his assessment that we will have to generate 3 or 4x as much power as we do today to support switching to electric cars, then there is the huge power needed for data centers, server farms and AI etc. The price increases per kw/hr nationwide have been bad. In some states they have gone up dramatically (MN?)
You are correct. Unfortunately we listened to the "Greta Thunbergs" of the time and derailed the nuclear industry. Hanoi Jane and the other leftist idiots made really stupid movies like the "China Syndrome" and scared people into thinking it would be the end of the world...much like they did with Covid. Now we reap the results. We have dirtier air and water now because of them. We have higher prices because of them. We have shortages because of them. We have an electric future that is currently out of reach because we don't have a strong generation foundation that can support it. We are paying a heavy economic price for listening to idiots.

I agree that nuclear is a good bet. However there is much good to say about wind and solar. Maybe figure a way to harness ocean tides. We must get away from fossil fuels, despite big oil owing the presidency.

Or it could be for reasons like the abnormal number of people who were inflicted with cancer around places like ORNL.

FTR, I am all for applying nuclear energy.

Are you aware that once the windmills are taken out of service, the blades are non-recyclable? Manufactured mostly from fiberglass. They're disassembled and usually left on site, either buried or left out in the open in stacks/piles. Why do liberals only seem concerned with finding alternative fuel sources other than fossil fuels? Are you not concerned with the lack of recycling that's being done not only in the US, but in other nations as well?

Did you know that Mexico dumps raw sewage in the pacific, just south of San Diego? Forcing San Diego to close beaches for a considerable amount of time.

I'd be more concerned with alternative means of trash disposal and increasing recycling efforts. We can't keep just placing trash in the ground at landfills, then covering with more dirt and moving on to the next place to create another landfill.

If only the tree huggers hadn't been lying back in the 80's when they converted everything to plastic. They were going to save the world by recycling all the plastic.

You really can't just pin that on nuclear with all the exotic chemicals that were used, experimented with and dumped or buried in the ground by the DOD. I doubt there are even records of what has been dumped.

What does Mexican poop have to do with improving wind power? Why do Republicans brains stop with what it is now instead of what it could evolve to. Good thing we didn't stop with the Wright Brothers effort at kitty hawk.

my brain stops at the government funding it. any of it. doesn't make sense for them to push and fund nationwide projects with untested tech. I would prefer they didn't fund ANY of it, including giving FF tax breaks; but it REALLY doesn't make sense with unproven or still developing tech.

The liberal politicians want to handcuff the US citizens at every turn. The latest target they have set their sights on is the fossil fuel industry and all markets that are associated with it. Automotive, heavy industry construction, manufacturing, etc.
all the vehicles on the roads are bad for the environment and all of the construction equipment is polluting our cities.

No it’s actually not. The internal combustion engine (ICE) 😀 is one of the greatest achievements of the past century. Automotive technology today produces some of the cleanest burning and most fuel efficient engines ever produced. Even the construction industry has adopted this philosophy with diesel engines, producing tier 3 and tier 4 final power plants that are extremely efficient and very emission friendly. Still, the left wants to end all fossil fuel dependence with no feasible replacement to sustain the population at its current levels.

Now their idea of clean energy is wind and solar. I guess they forgot about hydropower, something that’s been proven to be efficient and effective for near a century and has only improved as technology has progressed. Let’s just bypass hydroelectric and send all possible funding for wind and solar projects.

I’ve seen the windmills up close and perform maintenance on cranes that have to be on site to construct and install all of the sections together. After a period of time, usually not long, these units begin to experience failure issues, i.e leaking oil from failed seals, lightning strikes (common) and other electrical issues. When these units have oil leaks, there’s no containment system, just 460 worm gear oil all over the ground. Lots of it.
Then the electrical problems that usually lead to fires. Try putting that out when it’s about 300 feet up in the air.

My point is maybe they should focus on what we can immediately improve and control. The landfills aren’t getting any smaller and just produce methane, a lot of it. As I’m sure you’re aware, methane is 80 times more effective at trapping heat than carbon dioxide. Not to mention at ground level what it does to anyone’s respiratory system living nearby.

Begin with better recycling options and facilities, make it easier for the consumer as an option.

Not that you will agree with his take, but you should read some of @BartW. He backs up his opinion with factual data, in a very detailed and nuanced manner. As intelligent as you are about it, I would think you would be interested in his view from the opposite side of the man-made debate. Probably closer to agreeing than disagreeing in the end

I’ll check it out. Thanks for the info.
