Missouri Quarterback up Next

Spin it however you want but the fact is hooker was light years better and Heupel apparently couldn’t see it
So Fulmer was wrong to start Colquitt then Helton ahead of Manning? Obviously, Peyton was ready and did the job. Fulmer got it wrong in your eyes?

You're correct. No one saw Hooker as being better AND there were plenty of calls here to put in Bailey. You act as though VN got it right. We didn't and were worried about Hooker based on his VT benching.

If you want to feel better, yes.... Heupel didn't see it, Halzle didn't see it, VN didn't see it. NOBODY saw it. Feel better?

Many on here are drawing the conclusion this means Heupel must not think Gmac is any good. We only have 2 scholarship qbs. We need a third guy. I could see trying to go after a game changer like Leavitt, and once realizing it’s not happening just picking a guy up for depth.
Then why not keep Merk

Yes I do thank you
You've been in a bad marriage or something too long. "You made a mistake! I'm never trusting you again! I'll bring this up on you until you die, you loser."

I hope your life isn't really like that. Humans make mistakes and coaches are human. It's not necessary to bring it up 4 years later is it?

If I’m Heupel, I’m rolling with one of the young guns next year. If it’s another 8-4 or 9-3 season then so be it. Start playing these HS recruits instead of paying them to transfer.

I'd bet Heupel would roll with a young QB if he thought 8-4 was the likely outcome. I'll bet he believes it's closer to 6 or 7 wins with G-Mac or Faizon.

He'd still be looking for a QB but it seems from his "shopping list" he's looking for a starter.

This should tell everyone about Josh's confidence in G-Mac for next year.

It's obvious G-Mac isn't ready in Coach Heupel's mind and he's had a much better look at G-Mac than any of us.
You could look at it that way, or Heupel could feel like we could be elite if we get Sam…..but if we have to go with Beau it’s an insurance policy for George or Brandon if they can’t get it.
He could feel like with the defense we’re putting together we can spend 2 million less and get a guy to challenge the others but we’re rolling with George. I wouldn’t just assume CJH thinks he doesn’t have a guy.

I guess, but coupled with his failure to give G-Mac many snaps and sticking with Merk even after it was widely thought Merk would leave, I'm not sold that Heupel believes in G-Mac.

Few believed Merk would be QB1 in 26 but G-Mac got less snaps. That's not like Heupel.

He went all in on both these guys. Have not seen any buyers remorse. But they are a FR and a RFR with the risks that brings. Maybe we are due for an impact freshman. It happens, especially with high character guys.

Just getting a qb that can’t pass only hand the ball off isn’t going to get many wins. JH probably would like to keep his job for more than 1 more year.

Well then I’m not really sure why we’re dishing out big money for high school QB’s then. Makes no sense, but who knows.

Rumor is that Faizon's first deal is not huge but $1-1.5M though no one knows for sure of course.

If we have $3M in G-Mac and Faizon together, that's probably about average for a couple of SEC level QBs that don't start.

It's an expensive business but if we went after a room full of upperclassmen, Leavitt is reportedly asking $3M.

Proven upperclassmen QBs are going to cost more so having underclassmen recruits is cheaper.
