Mike Leach (Texas Tech)

I dont know much about Leach`s past, but i do know the offensive show TT put on against OSU & Texas was what I want to see in K`ville. And im sure he would have better resources in big orange country to be even more successful. You can say "flavor of the week", looks like prime rib to me that aint gonna spoil anytime soon !!!

I'd love Gruden but I just don't see it. Davis will bring the players with him & have the longest possible stretch of time to put a team together...& I think he would.

Kiffin & Muschamp are along the same lines of Leach to me. We've got a defense. We need OFFENSE my man....Leach brings a crapload of history of getting average players to set NCAA records....Kiffin brings a nice offensive resume to the table as well. Muschamp is one I'm not sure about but he does have a SEC background. I'm just not so sure how important that is these days.

So do me a favor Mike.....if Gruden & Davis say no & it's down to Kiffin or Leach....get out your patch & your pirate flag
I would pull for Kiffin over Leach anyday.

The problem with that is that we would need to convince the SEC to be like the Big 12 and stop playing defense.

No doubt. Although that offense this year might put up some good numbers on the SEC. It would be the exception rather than the rule in the SEC.

Actually, if you look at the records of Texas Tech the eight seasons before Leach took over and the eight seasons under Leach (before this year) they look pretty similar, especially the conf. records. So I wouldn't go as far to call them a traditional loser.

Ah, facts......so boring!

Facts are irrelevant. Bow to the power of Captain Queeg.

You started this thread by insulting 2 good football coaches while offering zero facts to back up your statement.

Gruden, Cohwer, Davis, Petersen, and Leach are all good football coaches and Tenn would lucky to get any of them. If I had to make a guess, I would say that the first coach we hire is going to be a bust, regardless of who it is. I think we are currently long on expectations and short on reality. Reality is that this is going to be one the toughest rebuilding gigs in the country. JMHO

Fact: Leach and Petersen have their respective teams in place Tenn hasn't been in a long time, the Top 10.

I was trying to give you the benefit of the doubt until you came up with that gem.

I am so tired of how everyone just expects that his offenses at UT would compare to hsi offense right now at TT. They just keep pointing to what TT did against Oklahoma and Texas and saying they cant wait to see him do that at UT. Well I hate to break it to you, but Harrell and Crabtree are not coming with him. He has had other very good offenses before and QBs that have done well. But Harrell and Crabtree came along and the stars aligned perfectly for him. If you look at his offenses over the entire 8 years he has been at TT, most would not have been successful in the SEC.

Nor should Muschamps or Kelly's but yet you did. This is just getting better and better.
Amazing to me that the masses of sportswriters and columnist put the list for the UT job as; Davis, Kiffin, Gruden, Muschamp, Kelly, Patterson and Graham. I havent heard much of Peterson outside of this website.

Reason? Because he hasnt done anything to land a major program job, I bet you WA won't even hire him.

Don't need benefit of the doubt from anyone, I think this program is in a mess atm. I just don't think someone is going to walk in on Day 1 and flip the WIN switch and it's going to be 1998 again. We have a team that laid down and quit against Wyoming, it may take a while to get their heads right again.

How many times in the last 8 years has TT been in the Top 10? They break into it after 8 years and all the sudden the coach is a miracle worker who will revive UT?

I assumed most people on the site had a working knowledge of college football in the last 15 years. Thanks for reminding not to overestimate an audience.
