Mike Leach accepted the UT Job, then we withdrew the offer... Let that sink in

I’ve said a few times that Leach is overrated. Not that he’s not a good coach...he is. But he’s often credited with being very good or great, which he isn’t.

Many on this site lament that UT didn’t hire Leach. Many have also cited Pruitt’s regression from Season 1 to Season 2 as a reason not to believe he can get it done.

In his first 3 seasons at Washington State, Leach was 3-9, 6-7, and 3-9. Leach actually regressed to 3-9 in his third season. Building a program isn’t always a linear upward trajectory.

A person will always be able to cherry pick an exception to point to. The trouble with your theory is that for every cherry picked example you can find there are 19-20 counter examples.

Leach took over a team that had went 9-40 over the previous 4 years and was one of the worst D1 teams in college football. I’m glad we’re are at the point when we have to compare Tennessee to a bottom feeder program that hasn’t been relevant since Ryan Leaf played there.

As long as the roots are not severed, all is well. And all will be well in the garden.

Mike leach had a head coaching history.

Washington State had won 9 games over the previous 4 years before he got there.

Pruitt has no head coaching history (before here)

Tennessee has never been in the situation Washington State was in.

Even if a rebuild is up and down, I would hope you could see improvements along the way. I would hope the team would show motivation, I would hope they would show discipline, I would hope they show preparation.........

I guess I’m asking for too much.

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Some of our screamers and criers were just claiming that we should have hired him. Please do not ruin their Sunday morning like this.

Nothing ruined when the point is not valid, pertaining to Tennessee........and I certainly was not a leach guy (during the coaching search process).

Maybe......just maybe Pruitt could win, and improve and people won’t have to make ridiculous comparisons; also there would probably be fewer people complaining.

If you weren't a Leach guy, then you wouldn't know what's ruined. Nice stretch, though, to protect the SAC's.

Wait!? I’ve reread this and I think you are preparing the fans saying Tennessee could have a worse record next year before it gets better because it isn’t always a linear upward trajectory.

Lol when you don’t know why in the world would you even reply.

You can certainly look over my history and you will see.

If your for Pruitt, thats cool, but maybe provide for reasoning or facts to back it up.

I think Leach would’ve done well here if given the time, but he would’ve never been given the time. 3-9 in year 3 at UT would’ve resulted in termination.

good information. maybe this will calm the herd.................until Basilio's next podcast

As funny as it is: I would not be happy if our coach said our players were fat, stupid and lazy. I wouldn’t mind one bit if those players didn’t come out of the locker room last night.
