Michael Smith (ESPN) is a POS

He said IF the allegations were true that Butch should be fired and anyone with half a brain would have to agree. No one wants a leader who would admonish a young man from doing the right thing.

He said IF many times. He did say he doubts that every woman in the suit is lying. Again, most people that can use common sense would agree with that statement. This isn't Duke where one person made it up. Now, all 8 telling the truth? Using logic, probably not.

Blind homerism makes the Tn fan base look as bad as the PR dept on the hill is currently.

I'll tell you what I do think.
I think the lawsuit is whether or not UT nurtured a culture of rape NOT if any rape has ever occurred.

That's idiocy at it's finest. I know some of you always take the anti UT stance but I swear, for anyone that has been here and watched as - each player is kicked off the team for an accusation - UT spend constantly for - preventative measures like speakers and help/counseling that has no limit - while having the largest number of women ever, refute the claims of the culture on campus.. That's just b.s.

Wait, why am I wasting my time explaining?
The one thing we definitely agree is there are some fans that make the rest look bad.

This!

The plaintiffs' attorney is getting everything he wants by letting the media get the "actual" lawsuit off its rails.

A week and a half ago many people (including a lot on here) thought Peyton Manning was being sued. He's not.

Now, the media thinks this is a rape case against UT. It's not!

The case is about whether or not UT has allowed a "rape culture" to exist. All this other stuff is to make UT guilty in the court of public opinion. Which seems to be working outside the TN border.

And it doesn't matter if he said "if", his tone was saying "guilty" from start to finish. His sidekick Skip just went ahead and rid the "if" from the conversation.

I think you have Michael Smith and Stephen A Smith confused. Stephen A and Bayless are Finebaum 2.0, nothing but shock jocks. Their opinion isn't taken serious, by anyone.

I think most are confused by the lawsuit itself. They aren't trying to find the players guilty of rape. They are saying the way UT handles the cases isn't fair to the alleged victims. They are accusing Tn of playing Law and Order. IF the accusations are true that they do not go through the police and instead hold their own hearing with offering the defendants counsel and the alleged victims not the same is concerning. We are talking an University setting, Not the court system. No prosecutors are present so the alleged victims are left to fend for themselves IF true. To add injury to this, the University appoints the hearing officer (judge) so it can be easily viewed right or wrong that they will protect the interest of the school.

Again, IF this is true, it does need to change. That is what the lawsuit HAS asked for. I do not know these girls personally nor the accused. Nor do you, don't judge either way, let it play out. Amazes me people take sides without any knowledge whatsoever, just going off ignorance. The worst part, an attorney said yesterday if this plays out till the end, it will take two years to completely resolve. For the big picture, a settlement looks likely. Second part to worry, has the Feds left campus investigating the Title IX with their findings? They are kind of like a house inspector, they will make sure they find something.

What a biased, idiot, a-hole. Everybody is lying, please. Only Bowles is lying, likely because he was pissed about playing time. Certainly, Bowles was questioned before the first filing of the suit. Then why is this just coming out now.

Sworn affidavit, why not if there if no recording on either side, there would be no way to disprove it. Just more he said, she said and positioning by the plaintiffs attorney.

I really struggle to believe Butch would do treat anyone poorly for helping the alleged victim.

Being a smart ass and stating that UT defenders are suggesting a conspiracy by saying the women all lied is not factual, but a straw man.

Only one addressed the Bowles situation as hear-say and the rest did not comment on it. I guess anyone with the IQ of a turnip can get a show on espn.

I would ban ESPN from UT and no more trips there once they resolve this case.

Seriously, &^^*^ ESPN and (*&(*& the Tennessean and their leftist ()*)(* reporters.

GBO, Punch a Yankee Traitor, Free Butch!

I advise you do like most people now a days. Don't watch ESPN. It is the msnbc of sports networks. I only watch espn for games. The talk shows are a pure cesspool!

We made Sports Illustrated this week too boys. A four page article with a full page picture of Peyton in his junior year at the beginning. Not a pretty picture that is painted either.

A hearing convened a local town hall to discuss a very VOLatile topic. A municipal truck accident had done a lot of damage. In attendance were many plaintiff's lawyers and concerned citizens.

Halfway through the proceedings, a man stands up and shouts, "All lawyers are azzholes!"

Then another man stands up and yells, "Hey, why don't you shut up, I'm offended!"

The first man stands up and asks, "Why, are you a lawyer?"

The other guy says, "NO, I'm an azzhole."

(Orange and White game April 16 - be there or be square).

The only people that read Sports Illustrated these days are siting in the doctors office waiting room. So you could say you have to be sick to read that rag.

.

No, he doesn't have them confused at all. Michael Smith is a co-host for "His and Hers" that airs at noon on ESPN 2 and he went as far to say that IF what Butch said was true he should be prosecuted. Ok...IF he said it, I agree he should be let go...but PROSECUTED? Come on man!

I quoted Jbond, he mentioned Michael Smith "with his sidekick Skip". That isn't Michael, that is Stephen A.

Yeah, on your point about his sensationalism, exactly what could they prosecute for? It only sounded good in his mind I guess.

When ranting about ESPN lack of journalism you have to remember they are not really journalist and really just commentators. They regurgitate sports information that is passed down to them. They don't investigate stories or dig up any information especially regarding the law.

They try to. And too many people think it's credible.

Leftist support women? LOL! It got to be hard to reach this level of stupidity.

He seems to come by it pretty naturally. Those same leftists who say they "support women" also seem to support Sharia Law coming to and being applied to the US Juducial system. Lol. What a bunch of dishonest, hypocritical buffoons.

One thing for sure.......TN is back! cant count all of the tire tracks on CBJ's back.

In today's world, you better be prepared for negativity (media) when your winning or assumed to be heading for the top. Bring it on ESPN! Vols can handle this.

I'm largely ignoring the sensationalist media. Until actual facts come out, it's all just noise

This! Everyone is going off little information. I won't be surprised if some of it is true, won't be surprised if it's not

The one post (out of all the other stuff being posted) that is sound and reasonable. Patience has to be exercised here.
