McElwain's Comments

I loved the last part

,"Coach McElwain isn't going anywhere"

I hope he's there for a very long time..

Should have prefaced with with "As of right now..".

If they completely fall apart the rest of the year, which I do not expect them to do, that's different.

Nothing I saw in the game on Saturday would lead me to believe they are going to pile up a bunch of losses this year. Tennessee just came out and ripped their faces off. I don't see a lot of teams that can do that left on our schedule.

Running the Show? We dropped 6 routine catches, got inside the 4 yard line twice and came away with nothing. Don't get me wrong, Florida had a good plan coming in and exposed our weaknesses on defense. In no stretch of the imagination did Florida dominate us for any quarter, we shot ourselves in the foot.

Exactly we dropped passes left and right.. Should of been 21-21 at half..

Well, Tennessee made some mistakes for sure, however Florida did not make very many. that has to be worth something.

I am okay with it. I said before the game that I wish they would keep their mouths shut, and this is why.

Florida still has a good team, and we'll see if they have learned their lesson. I was very happy with how they played in the 1 two quarters. I wasn't sure what we would get iwth Appleby, but it's good to know he's serviceable without Del Rio. Not making an excuse here.. with how the defense played in the second, it wouldn't have mattered if Del Rio was playing or not.

Coach McElwain isn't going anywhere.

The way your defense got embarrassed in this game and the way Michigan embarrassed your defense, I'm of the opinion that Florida's defense is trending down. McElwain is not a defensive mind. Muschamp was and that's why your defense was good last year. I predict you will see your defense deteriorate over time. Offense will continue to improve but McElwain won't last at Florida due to lack of defense. My opinion.

I think Tabor can't shut up or won't I believe he's that stupid.. Anyways not a Tennessee problem, our coach told them all week to back it up on the field and that's what they did.. Your coach allowed that crap and now Florida deserves all the crap being flung their way.. And I love it..

I can see why you think that.. but you can't deny they were running the show in the first half.

Doesn't matter now. Vols win big and maybe now the Gators will play with humility. :good!:

So? Should the University of Tennessee issue an apology to the University of Florida for not making it clear that this would be a 60 minute game?

Hah.. I get, I get it.. go ahead pile it on. After 11 years, I would too.

However, I'm just posting what the players said after the game. After the first half.. it's hard to say 'the coach sucks'. Would have been different if they hadn't played great to start for sure.

I'm rooting for the Vols to go on and win the east and with UGA being down, it looks like you guys will do just that.

I see the backhanded compliment gator.

We still have some work to do before I start celebrating a trip to Atlanta. I do feel better about than I have in 11 years.

I think ya'll have it in the bag.. Georgia is down, Kentucky and Vandy are how they always are, Missouri stinks and South Carolina is coached by a baboon. Doesn't matter if you lose to Alabama and Texas A&M, you should be making a trip to Atlanta in early December, IMO.

I wouldn't say that..TN dropped 5 passes the first half that cost us atleast 14 points since 2 of them were wide open TD passes had they been held onto..if Croom and Kamara both make those catches the momentum is completely swapped and who knows how bad we beat UF. Vols played very tight the first half, if not for that The Vols win by 28+. We should have picked on Tabor more because he struggled covering Jennings the entire game. That is exactly why I hate smack talking and I hate it if my team does it. More times than not guaranteeing a win ends up as a loss for the team guaranteeing the win. Especially Tabor who talked it all spring, summer and fall and got owned by a WR who is still learning how to play the position.

We should beat GA but we haven't won at GA in a long time and is just another one of those streaks we have to end this year. I don't think we beat Ala and think we lose at A'M so beating GA this weekend is critical if we want to make the SEC championship. I'm still waiting for the Vols to play a full game. If we play like we did the 2nd half vs FL for the entire game vs Georgia then we beat them as bad as Ole Miss did but so far they haven't shown that ability. Hopefully that was the wakeup call the players needed.

Eh.. the players said after the game they took it easy and thought they could coast to the win after the half. Coaching staff had them ready to play.. 300 yards of offense in 2 quarters with your backup QB on the road is not bad.

LOL! Typical gator fan. Make excuses. "Took it easy". LOL! They got that ass kicked bad. After halftime, it was a no contest.

Lots of excuse making here. UT shot themselves in the foot the first half, found their rhythm, and made UF quit in the second. 35 unanswered points in the second half isn't a fluke, or indicative of UF just forgetting how to play. They got spanked and curled up in the fetal position when they got punched in the mouth.

UF is ridiculously lucky Tenn isn't sitting on a 3-0 streak right now, to be honest. I, for one, hope CJM stays around for a long time down there. This could get really fun.

I was fortunate enough to meet Steve Spurrier in our hotel restaurant after the game. He walked up to me and my friend (who played basketball at South Carolina for 4 years) and stuck out his hand with the following remarks: "Good game Vols, ya'll kicked our ass pretty good that second half." Later said, "Yeah, Gators probably talked a little too much before the game. Shoulda talked a little less and played a little more."

Im not sure that the day could have ended much better. Very cordial encounter. His wife was extremely nice as well. Watched the end of the AU/LSU game and part of the USC/KY game with them.

Yeah.. but if you think about it, It's almost a great plan. Lull the team into a false sense of confidence, then unleash hell...

Ton of respect for that cat. He was a thorn for a long time but he backed up the chatter.

On a side note my friend asked his wife if they stayed in Columbia or moved back to Florida she said, "I live in the Atlanta airport, we are busier now than when he was coaching."

I'll tell you what IS bad.....not being able to do a damn thing about Tennessee going on a 38-0 run.

Last Year:

I know another animal that lacks a backbone. You can find it in the swamp as well.

The only swamp invertebrate I can think of, besides McElwain, is a crab or a worm. But Spurrier also comes to mind.
