I'll tell you what IS bad.....not being able to do a damn thing about Tennessee going on a 38-0 run.
Sir Charles agrees

I can see why you think that.. but you can't deny they were running the show in the first half.

:eek:lol: BFD. so you "lost it" and we didn't win? no one would let us get away with that last year, so you don't get to use it this year.

Hah.. I get, I get it.. go ahead pile it on. After 11 years, I would too.

However, I'm just posting what the players said after the game. After the first half.. it's hard to say 'the coach sucks'. Would have been different if they hadn't played great to start for sure.

I'm rooting for the Vols to go on and win the east and with UGA being down, it looks like you guys will do just that.

I rewatched the entire game last night, without the cloud of 11-years-lost-and-impending-doom.

UF did not play "great" the first half. They had problems sustaining drives in the first half, but made hay with big plays, which were all UT defensive breakdowns and missed assignments. I'm not taking anything away from UF on these plays; UF made UT pay, which is what they were supposed to do. But it wasn't 'great' play. It was average play interspersed with taking advantage.

On D, UF was average in the secondary with good DL play. UT receivers were running free and Dobbs had good protection. UT's receivers just dropped easily caught passes--probably due to jitters and the gravity of the streak in their heads. UT drove the ball well all 1st half, but never capitalized.

On special teams, UF was attrocious all game.

UF went up big in the 1st half, but I would not say it was due to their great play. Sorry.

Eh.. the players said after the game they took it easy and thought they could coast to the win after the half. Coaching staff had them ready to play.. 300 yards of offense in 2 quarters with your backup QB on the road is not bad.

You aren't really serious with trying to rationalize that loss that way, are you?

My fear is that Jones would have taken his foot off the pedal and let UF back in if...... But UT had a chance to be tied or ahead at the half. In the second half, the Vols not only started executing.... their conditioning and talent began to overwhelm UF.

I wonder if UT's players "thought they could coast to the win after half" last year? Was that the reason they lost too?

After the talking they did AND considering the history of UF v UT.... I seriously doubt a single one of them let up. UF has NEVER missed an opportunity to run the score up on UT when they could.

Mental note to the Florida Players then. When you're playing an SEC opponent in their rabid stadium, an opponent with talent across the board now, never ever take your foot off their throat.

Well, Sport, completely losing your poise in the second half is bad.

And if you are finding those bolded lame assed excuses acceptable, even for one stinking second, your program doesn't deserve any more titles.

If a Tennessee players made that kind of statement publicly, this board would light up until he transfers out to the MAC. If that is what you all call a competitive mindset, I wouldn't even want to play a casual game of UNO with that wuss.

You sure they said that, or are you just making crap up after drowning your sorrows in whatever you could get your paws on over the weekend??

Well, yeah. You can. They benefited from unforced errors. Your DB didn't make a great play to make Croom drop a sure TD pass... or the other 4 drops/errant passes. That was UT beating UT. Just say thanks.

Doesn't matter now. Vols win big and maybe now the Gators will play with humility. :good!:

Why would a coach let some of the pre-game stuff go on anyway?

Wilson's comments were a dangerous level of disrespect for the opponent and ESPECIALLY when the athletes he was tasked to stop.... were better than him.

Wrong, one of our defense backs was playing Santa Claus in the first half and we were in the shadow of the goal post 3 times. By all rights should have been tied at half. Chomp, Chomp troll.

I actually agree with this. They torched us in the first half and went in to the locker room thinking this is 12 in a row with ease. As I recall the overwhelming majority of Vol fans on here me included thought the same thing.

In the second half once we started rolling they did exactly what we did the last two years. They played tight and conservative. We got the momentum and never gave it back. By the end we were imposing our will and simply whipping them and there was nothing they could do.

I'm calling BS...Coaches should have had them ready to stop coasting at some point of that 2nd half beatdown...

Forget the gators until next year. Next up!

Tennessee was the team team that lacked effort for a half. Tennessee playing the way they did in the second half will not lose to a team not called Alabama.

I can deny. They were not stopping us. We were stopping us. The plan on offense did not change. We started making plays. It could have been worse for the Gators if we got out of our way.

That ALGator guy seems like a decent guy trying to be as gracious and humble as could be expected after a devastating loss. Let him.

One could argue the Tennessee was it's own worst enemy in the first half. There is always 2 halves, 4 quarters. The best team won. End of story! GBO!!!!!!

LOL! Calling BS on th gators taking it easy in the 2 half. That some serious spin. What happened was they got hit by a truck. And your backup QB did have a good first half. It certainly helped his cause that the UT defense was down 3 of its 4 top players. Gators got their azzes handed to them. Plain and simple.

or hanging on to the hope that Tennessee would self destruct yet again.

I think the lizards realized halfway through the 3rd qtr that this TN team wasnt going away and was not imtimidated by them and the scoreboard. I think our guys finally realized that they were the better team. You could just see the confidence rising in our boys play after play till the finished it off! Go Vols!

You're actually quite lucky you didn't lose by 40.... We failed to score from the 2, threw a pic in the end zone, and settled for 3 from the 5. Very easily could have been tied up going to the half. But it wasn't, and you still got that azz whipped. Admitting is the first step to recovery.
