Maymon,Stokes,McRae all support Martin to Cal

lol at the people that struggle understand a coach/player relationship. Sad that it has to be explained. Hell, psu players stuck up for Joe Pa. Some players stuck up for Dooley. A coach could not win a game and players will stick up for him.

If you think how it went down today is in line with what Martin preaches, that's your problem. I don't care if the players leaving care how he handled it or not.

This sort of talk lends credence to the idea that UT picked itself up off the mat and competed once the team felt their coach's job was on the line -- ironic, given that they should have realized that a long time ago. That last run to get to the play-in game was like taking a bucket of water to a burning house ... just too late to make a difference to the folks who had checked out.

Tyndall has better a better resume than Martin did when he took the job.

Ok, but what about Martin now, you know what you're gonna get so you would look at his current resume. Everyone wanted to compare Martin to Pearl, do the same with it this go around. People kept saying Pearl got us to 6 straight NCAAT, we need to hire someone who can do the same.

Where he'll have 3-4 years to show his inconsistency once again and be on the hot seat. Or not. It depends if Cal fans and the admin really give a sh*t about hoops. Looking at the current state of their football program, I doubt it.

At least you can ditch your UT jerseys and buy some Cal stuff now. I told you to never fall in love with a coach. You'll just get burned when they leave.

That's funny, you miss all the Pearl talk that still goes on here? Lulz

He knew next season had a chance to be rough so he went somewhere that his coaching clock starts over again.

^exactly!

He ran out of Bruce's players and knew he wouldn't be able to cut it next season on player talent alone like this year. Figured he would go out now that his stock is higher than it ever will be.

That's stupid. The man was underperforming majorly in the middle of his third year people had the right to be calling for his head. Just saying. But oh well. I want a coach that wants to be here.

Probably not going to be too many who want this job. 8 guess we're going to find out.

The dude didn't let his AD know he was involved in the search until he told him he was leaving this morning. Took Hart by surprise and left Hart to handle the players. That's a douche move. I've lost a lot of respect for CCM over the last 2 hrs as more and more comes out.

If what you say is true I think you just "hit the nail on the head." Martin didn't even have the courtesy to address the fan base or his players. I don't know about other fans but even if you think you were treated unfairly that does not show much class or character to me! Even Kiffy had the ..... To address the fan base!

He didn't cry, he instead flipped Tennessee the bird and said watch this.

I figured you would be on suicide watch by now ? I see you are still defending this clown all the way to Cal. He left before he could get fired after next year.

I don't see too many people crying.

Dude, we know you were crazy over Martin but he must have not wanted to be here too bad. He couldn't handle the criticism and you have to be able to handle it when you're coaching college basketball. He wanted to leave and there's nothing we can do about it now. I'm not crying and you don't see other posters crying over it either. Move on already and support whoever our next coach is. Jeez.

Nobody "let Bruce get away." He signed his own death warrant when he lied to the NCAA. Only a moron would try to rehire the guy who put the entire program at risk and got a show-cause penalty. One small screw-up with him coming back to the same place, and the NCAA would absolutely obliterate the program with scholarship restrictions and post-season bans. In a risk-reward calculation, that's a no-brainer. Secondly, you don't fire your Coach mid-season when you still have potential of making a tournament run (which we did with success). Auburn made their hire before there could have been any realistic expectation of an opening at Tennessee. It was never going to happen.

Only a moron would not want Pearl to come back. We, more than 30,000 loyal UT fans and alumni, would have fired Zo after he called time out to lose a game we had just won. We 30,000 morons would have hired Bruce right there and we would not be here today. We would be looking forward to a great basketball future. Instead Zo repaid you loyalists by sneaking out in the middle of the night.

"Thanks for your support and loyalty, I am out," Zo. "And I am taking with me the 7 foot recruit you paid me to go after."

Like a thief in the night.

Fans can and do cause a lot of problems for athletic programs. Our fans have razed our basketball program and if I was a coach, I would likely not seek a Tennessee basketball job because of the manner in which CCM has been treated I may be the only one to feel this way, but about 38,000 so-called Tennessee fans have brought shame to the Tennessee Basketball Program. I just hope we can recover from their actions.
You aren't the only one who feels this way.

If you can't take the heat, Get the ufck out of the kitchen.

36,000 is almost a fourth of Tennessee fans. Hell maybe a fifth.

Boohoo, The fans. Don't blame us.

Without the 'lucky' Sweet 16 march you didn't do anything to help our program. You underachieved. We want a winner, not a winer (sp?)

End rant/

Nah, I skim over most of it like most of your posts that drooled over Martin. He was an above average coach at best and an average game day coach at best. You shouldn't be so devastated.

I'm not disappointed in the least that he is leaving. I'm more concerned about the sh*t shape he is leaving the program.

Martin had a good run to the sweet sixteen, and he signed Stokes and Hubbs, that's about it in three years. Cal can just write the check for 1.3 million to UT, and both parties can move forward.

Martin leaves the program in worse shape than he found it. In that, there are fewer top recruits on the roster than when he got the job at UT. Martin's incoming freshman class is average at best. It will take a much better class to compete with UF and Kentucky.

Or hire Donnie Tyndall and pay off debts, awesome!

did you not say in another thread that Tyndall was a mid major coach for a reason ? the only reason Martin isn't still a mid major coach is because the idiots that run UT went shopping at the Dollar store. By the way Tyndall has a better record than Martin and has did more. and Im not even a fightingTyndall.

Tyndall is the definition of lmao

Remember coaches aren't supposed to learn on the job here, and coaches should be compared to Pearl.

I'm not a Tyndall fan but u seem to want to suggest that is who we will hire....I was saying I won't cry about it BBC I don't consider Zo the answer....I do hope we aim higher though.
