Maymon,Stokes,McRae all support Martin to Cal

Fans have a right to "treat" the coach any way they choose. Where there's thousands of fans, you'll get thousands of responses. The coach is hired to get results, and he largely underachieved during his time here.

I like the guy but I think this will be best for both parties. Best of luck to X-CCM.

Fans can and do cause a lot of problems for athletic programs. Our fans have razed our basketball program and if I was a coach, I would likely not seek a Tennessee basketball job because of the manner in which CCM has been treated I may be the only one to feel this way, but about 38,000 so-called Tennessee fans have brought shame to the Tennessee Basketball Program. I just hope we can recover from their actions.

Somebody needs to get Martin a waaaaburger and some frenchcries.. Ur a grown man making millions coaching basketball and u cry when there's criticism over an underperforming team? Give me a break..

TN tough was this years motto?? Lol

I don't want to be that guy but could this be y stokes left and mj didn't come. Zo was acting like a baby so I can see it

Ok. What are we in the third grade? I supported him and he did overachieve 2 years and meet expectations the other. I'm sorry I didn't jump over him for not winning every single game. I'm not sad or mad he left. I do think he was a good coach but not great. I think we can hire better . But we can do a lot worse. That's what some can't seem to fathom.

He won more than he was supposed to. Ran a clean program I always said recruiting was not great but ok. They offered to make him about 8th in the league in pay when he should have been fourth after Bruce. His wife was harassed and the the dumb a. petition. Not surprising he left.

Best post I read all day! :clapping::clapping::clapping:

Who don't seem upset because they think he did the right thing.
Maybe they need to go with him then. Maybe they don't need to be playing at such a horrible place such as UT then. The more that comes out the more I am glad the way this is turning out. Purge the program and do it right from now on.

So you are saying its wrong for fans to want better for a program they have spent money on for years is that what your saying?....That they don't have a right to voice their opinions?...Let me explain something to you, Some of these fans and boosters spend a TON of money on this program and have for years...When they feel they aren't getting their moneys worth then they are going to get upset and ask for change...Except for the luckiest draw in the history of the NCAA's CCM did absolutely nothing for this program and the fans saw it and voiced how they want change...Yet you say they are the bad guys in all of this...The right coach will be a deep breath of fresh air to the program and the recruits will follow....Martin wasn't taking us anywhere and i give him credit for jumping ship while the jumping was good because he wold most like have been fired next season...Some of the people all upset over him leaving sound just like Dooley supporters...Just can't accept reality.

He didn't cry, he instead flipped Tennessee the bird and said watch this.

He clearly under achieved. I am tired of hearing the whining of entitled and spoiled coaches and players because they teceived some well deserved criticizm. Players have all the advantages of a great education with many perks and a coach who made millions.

I don't feel a bit sorry for any of them.

Meh. You perform and you have a happy fanbase. Good move for him to strike while the iron was hot and leave before next years .500 season. Hart saw it coming which is why he offered a borderline insulting extension. I certainly won't lose any sleep over it. If he can't handle criticism best to toil in obscurity in a middle of the PAC (pun intended) basketball school.

Watch what? Watch him leave UT and the cupboard bare because of his incompetent recruiting? Or watch how he'll get into the NIT and barely make the NCAA's?

No, watch how I'll leave Tennessee and land another job where I'll be more appreciated, get a hell of a lot more security and get paid more.

Friends, I'm not so sure this is about the fans & the petition... I think it is more about certain boosters who withheld recruiting assets (like the use of their private jet) when the season wasn't going as well as everyone would have liked.

Fans will be fans... and every coach is ready to deal with criticism from them. What makes a coaching environment intolerable is when a powerful booster (or boosters) actively do things to hinder you.

As a coach, once you become aware that there are people in positions of power who wish you to fail... the situation is untenable.

From the outside, looking in, it appears that UT has a booster problem. If Hart can't lure a proven coach like Marshall away from a mid-major, to coach in front of 20k in TBA, in power conference like the SEC... it won't be his fault. it will probably be because every coach in the U.S. knows about this booster fiasco.

The media types who reported the rumor of the booster withholding the use of a jet... they need to reveal the name of the booster or boosters who did it. Let the fans scorn that jacka$$ for awhile.

If there is no truth to that rumor, then that needs to be reported NOW. NOW...and LOUD, so that prospective coaches know that they can consider the UT job without that kind of BS lingering in the background.

Bruce was never coming back. NEVER. It was never in the works. Please understand this.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink it. Just like you can't make someone agree or understand your with your opinion.

The petition served its purpose, it got Martin and the players to give their all for Tennessee which they weren't doing until thousands had signed it. Additionally, it got a coach who was NOT a good fit for the program to move on.

Doubt he will be appreciated anymore than he was here. It won't take long for him to disappoint another fan base. Maybe they're ok with recruiting projects.

Where he'll have 3-4 years to show his inconsistency once again and be on the hot seat. Or not. It depends if Cal fans and the admin really give a sh*t about hoops. Looking at the current state of their football program, I doubt it.

At least you can ditch your UT jerseys and buy some Cal stuff now. I told you to never fall in love with a coach. You'll just get burned when they leave.
