Max Gilbert appreciation thread

It's irrational. Again, you're defending it behavior because it doesn't affect you. If it were your family, you would just shrug and go on? It's ok to be elated or disappointed, but your entire life revolves around this? If it does, there are other relationships that are suffering. Just like if your entire life revolves around being a father, you're not being a husband. There's balance. Anyways, we can agree to disagree. I've got to get ready to tackle the challenges of today. I pray today is a great day for us all.
It's an appreciation thread, but these clowns just can't help themselves. It's got a lot to do with being dumb and uninformed

He sucked, glad he’s gone
If we could only be so lucky for the classless “fans” whose unnecessary shots, the “meltdown” feeding efforts now “facts” for all to see would also be “gone” it would be great.

Those social media “fumbles” are as productive as this kid’s missed kicks, yet they continue to justify them. At least he did not purposely hit the miss button like they hit the post button.

I actually think it's surprising how little heat Gilbert drew compared to how many games he cost us.
I kinda agree. There's been discussion and dismay about misses, but I didn't see the overwhelming venom over taking things. If anything, I've seen alot of "it's not all on him". My take on him has been that he was part of some team losses...it's a team game, and in most of the losses, "the team" defense had huge lapses that allowed opposing offenses to score at ridiculous clips, in "game on the line" situations. There were egregious coaching decisions on clock management and offensive play calling, etc, etc. So, nothing against him personally, but it's a performance game... which happens to be the most "pass/fail" position on the field. I wish him nothing but the best.

At the end of the day, JH is paid to win games, and no one is going to say "yeah, but there were those games we should have won because of missed kick or because of porous defense."

And If you don’t show my level of compassion then you may be bad in bed and also possibly stink. This thread is gold.
Actually it shows deeper issues of being irrationally mad at a kid that people are blaming losses on him. If we're being honest our team was not very good. The kids tried their hardest. It is what it is. We did good to win 8 games. We were not going to the playoffs, and any rational person could see that. Out run defense was not that good. Our safety play wasn't that good. Our OL wasn't that good. So to single out the kicker and make multiple threads is overboard. We are grown men, we have to do better and expect better from each other. Yes it is a random message board, but you don't have to be a POS online.

It's sad that this is the result of me telling a poster to be kind to a kid that may be going through something personal. We don't know, and it's none of our business. That's someone's son. The poster ridiculed me, and I said hey have some compassion, are you bad in bed. He got mad, said don't preach to me, and left to either beat his wife or find me. So 2 more posters comes in to defend the guy acting like an *******. It is his right, but I still have the right to ask him to cool it. There's already a thread about the kid with too many negative replies. The last supporter of the first guy, tries to shame and burn me for having compassion, as if that's some kind of flaw. Is it wrong to care about how others feel. Are you a psychopath?

Heupel should have kicked on 3rd down against UGA not 4th. Too many things could go wrong and they did
It WAS 3rd down. I assume you mean on 3rd and 5 BEFORE the false start made it 3rd and 10 and we froze our own kicker?

No im not a psychopath. Well maybe ask my ex wife. The comment that upset you was way out of line. No problem with you being pissed. You brought his wife and hygiene into it. That’s way out of bounds. It’s all going to be fine. There’s no reason for any of us to say anything we’ll end up regretting next week.!

Thank you, and I do apologize for that. I will do better.

You probably suck at something too. Should we start a post everytime you f up? Should we call your significant other to see how you disappointed them today?
Better yet tweet at him and tell him how bad he sucks like I literally saw fans doing on Twitter. So fkg stupid to act like that

He did kick on 3rd down. It was 3rd down and we got a false start. Actually he should have ran another play
We should have put them away by staying aggressive after the sack/fumble, leading 35-30. It's all moot now anyway. Max is leaving and we need to get one of these soccer dudes turned kicker who can drill a 55 harder without breaking a sweat

These kids are paid now like professionals so we should get to criticize them when it’s warranted. He had one job and he couldn’t perform in the big moments. He would’ve never kicked again after that Georgia choke job he pulled if i was the coach. He quite possibly costed us the Oklahoma game too and of course misses one against Illinois. He missed like 4 against Kentucky last season fortunately we still won. Yea he had to go and i won’t miss him.
He didn’t cost us the OU game anymore than Sanders doing the wrong assignment and then OU getting the scoop and score . BTW if Sanders makes that block it’s an easy score for Mike Matthews, we go up 14-0 and we probably build on that momentum and run them out of Neyland. He didn’t cost us the UGA game when we had more than about 10 chances to win that game. He’s one of 24 guys that play a part. Sure, he contributed, but he’s far from the only reason .
