Great... the problem is in the assumption that the next guy automatically is better. It may not work like that.JG has been given the most patience in the history of football. In 2017 I remember immediately thinking he sucked. Was there anybody that believed he would be good after his redshirt freshman year? I know a lot more people feel better about Maurer after his TRUE freshman year.
My main concern is that he's susceptible to concussions. Some people just are. Their heads are just "different" in some way. Just like some people just cannot process information quickly or instinctively. They're deliberate "thinkers". Nothing wrong with it... it just doesn't make for a good QB.
Speaking for just me, I don't assume that. In fact, I will be surprised if the next guy doesn't make some mistakes that JG might not have made.Great... the problem is in the assumption that the next guy automatically is better. It may not work like that.
Yeah. I could have said that better. I'm not suggesting that he is... only that the possibility is a concern. That fall he took was freakish... so it may just mean he took a hit that would have given anyone a concussion.Well, he had a concussion, but does that make him susceptible? My brother recently fell off his front porch and got a concussion. His first. Does that make him susceptible ? If the blow is sufficient, would everyone not be susceptible?
Well he proved last year he was better last year until his concussions. Just sucks that BM and HB haven't gotten the work they have needed to up to this point with COVID and BM's hamstring. Still obvious to me that both of those guys are better than JG. Which isn't saying a lot, of course. Neither one of them will turn the ball over 6 times in two quarters either. Them playing is growth. We decay with JG on the field. JG might pull together some Missouri USCjr type performances if he continues to see the field, but he can at any point ruin everything. As you know. BM and HB? Probably more ups and downs, but they actually have ability and the youth to grow and we have seen some solid play from BM already. To me, for those reasons, we are automatically better with those guys going forward. At worst JG comes off the bench like last year and plays fresh and well.Great... the problem is in the assumption that the next guy automatically is better. It may not work like that.

I think the target has to be someone that has a higher ceiling... someone whose mistakes are correctable and not just part of who he is.
I believe (or hope) that one of the other three has a much higher ceiling. They have the potential the help the O reach a new level.
I said over the summer that I believed JG was near or at his ceiling. Pulaski went nuts. I think what we have seen confirms my fears.
If Maurer gets the nod, which I have my doubts, then Idk what to think. On one hand I know he can do it. He’s proved it. And I know he can do it again. But on the other, I think “poor kid” because look at some of you now. Some of you think just like Pruitt and still don’t want to give the kid a chance. Some of you want to criticize him over his stat lines KNOWING he’s never had the luxury of facing anything less than an SEC defense and two of his mere 4 starts were against the nations best. Now here we are, same time next year and he gets to face Alabama again. Lord forbid he have a bad game, the wolves will be out.

I’m not opposed to that for the reps but I am for the simple fact that the Maurer we saw vs UF and the Maurer we saw after preparation was a night and day difference.I’d really prefer that Guaranturnover get the nod to start. And then bring in Maurer after it gets out of hand. And then let him finish the d@mn game to show what he can do.
Play for the final 5 games.
Nahhh. I'll go with Maurer starting and maybe sub in Bailey and if somehow they do worse than two pick 6's a fumble or three fumbles and an interception then you put JG inI’d really prefer that Guaranturnover get the nod to start.
