Maurer...

If BM starts we can beat Bama. Trust me!

We can if he is 100%. With not playing a game in so long, I doubt he will be 100% though. That's why if he was able should have started first game, but my understanding is that he had hamstring.

I was stating what was said by the announcers in Sat. game, they said prior to that scrimmage game he had only had 10 snaps. Maybe the announcers were wrong
I didn’t hear the prior part.

It blew my mind that HE attacked ME for being nice! Says a lot about character?

I apologize for “attacking” you. Message boards are the place for rumors and conjecture, facts are rarely part of the equation even when posters “act” like they have an inside source. More time than not that “inside source” is Volquest or 24/7, a paid message board for rumor and conjecture.

If he played with his head on his shoulders he would be the guy.
Way to reckless and careless though
He just needs to get a little bigger and learn some discretion. Id guess that it’s easier to coach a guy to slide than to try and coach a guy to not play scared.

Thats the thing I think in his mind he is as big as Cam Newton but physically he is smaller than a lot of HS kids. Im not asking the kid to play scared im asking him to not get killed.

That’s a stand up, man thing you just done and you’ve earned my respect. Apology accepted.

I get exactly what you’re saying. QBs have to understand that they’re not RBs. In his defense, the times he got really hurt were an awkward fall against MSU, a free rusher against UGA and against Alabama he took a shove after he threw a pass and hit his head on one of his own guys. He had some bad luck.

How long until those awkward falls turn into something serious though? I want the kid to start i really do but he needs to clean his game up first. He provides a big spark to the offense that they desperately need.

CJP said he’s been practicing but he has had hamstring and knee issues

I don’t care if he does backflips off the Jumbotron I just can’t hack #2 anymore. He’s not progressed, developed or improved in 5 years.

Hopefully, a lot of that was just a kid trying to make something happen because he didn’t have the full offense yet.

You're right. Those are the concerns. I hope he gets the chance to play through some of that and get coached up. I think he could be really good if given say... half the patience JG has gotten.

Im not lobbying to keep the same guy under center by any means. There needs to be a change and if Pruitt wants to find success he has to make the tough decisions.

My main concern is that he's susceptible to concussions. Some people just are. Their heads are just "different" in some way. Just like some people just cannot process information quickly or instinctively. They're deliberate "thinkers". Nothing wrong with it... it just doesn't make for a good QB.

I absolutely think it was him going above and beyond to prove he can be the guy and some were him trying way to hard.
If do not see the gap or whatever the coaches are calling it now between JG and everyone else.

Hes got the right mentality and the ability to grasp the offense he just needs live snaps to learn how to clean his game up like some posters said before.
Id hate

Maurer in a nutshell: not good but he’s not JG.

He could be great, if he gets coaching and opportunities. I’m not sure he’s really received any solid QB coaching since arriving and our coach seems to decide he doesn’t “like” QB’s and the puts them on a shelf.

People greatly exaggerate his play. He made one good throw to a wide open Marquez against UGA. That's about it. I can relate with the kid about depression, it's something I battle with to this day at times, I want the kid to succeed...but the reality is, he's had every chance in the world to take the job. Same with JT Shrout. Our hopes lie on Harrison Bailey now. I fully believe that.

I disagree. I don’t think any QB other that Guaraturnover have been given any kind of fair shot.

I dont think he over thinks the play at all. Looking back at the chances he got he made quick decisions and let the ball fly although the were questionable.

JG has been given the most patience in the history of football. In 2017 I remember immediately thinking he sucked. Was there anybody that believed he would be good after his redshirt freshman year? I know a lot more people feel better about Maurer after his TRUE freshman year.
