`LOL. No there isnt. Maurer made some good throws and thats it. He has more INTS than TDs. Regardless of who we have playing QB, we are going to get utterly smashed into the dirt. Maurer doesnt have the chops to beat a team like Bama. If you think he does, please offer up the proof. Dude you need to just stop. Maurer has talent but he isnt anywhere near as good as you think he is. If he were, he would have supplanted JG easily.

Idk about beating them and idk how it would be this year. The point I was making was that he was competitive with two of the big three we can’t beat and somehow most have written him off.

We haven’t beaten the Tide in years and there is absolutely 0 evidence that starting BM would make that possible.
Now if you add in a new D line, secondary, a couple of better O line guys and BM then it’s plausible, but still unlikely

I’m just saying that he was having arguably his best game in Alabama last year before he took the cheap shot. If qbs here are measured by what they do against the big three then I’d say Maurer is probably not the one to let go. Js

He may be the best we have, but that don’t change the answer as you implied.
Post unarguably said start BM and we beat Bama which is idiotic, and you said evidence said otherwise.
We all know you’re a BM guy and a lot of us like things we seen from him but please, keep it real!!!

JG has earned the start vs Bama. Let the other qbs cut their teeth against a more manageable opponent.

People greatly exaggerate his play. He made one good throw to a wide open Marquez against UGA. That's about it. I can relate with the kid about depression, it's something I battle with to this day at times, I want the kid to succeed...but the reality is, he's had every chance in the world to take the job. Same with JT Shrout. Our hopes lie on Harrison Bailey now. I fully believe that.

I can see the point but that’s not what I meant. BM or no BM I don’t think we beat Bama. However I do think he’s proven to be our best shot.

Possibly. Perhaps the coaches have concerns he got concussed a few too many times last season. JG’s appeal at one time was he didn’t give you much but he didn’t turn the ball over. Idk that Maurer gives you more from the position but the team seemed to rally behind him a little more IMO.

Second TD against UGA, he fit it into a tight window. They figured him out immediately after that but it was an impressive first start.

I agree with that..... I love Maurer and Shrout but there is a ton of improvement that those two had to make to be viable starters in the sec

As far as the analysis of scheme and what the teams are doing to kill our offense it’s not speculation. You can see it plain as day if you watch the 2nd half Georgia or yesterday’s game. We aren’t doing anything schematically to help or stop it. No quick game, no double TE (except the scoring drive), no strong side formations.

I was stating what was said by the announcers in Sat. game, they said prior to that scrimmage game he had only had 10 snaps. Maybe the announcers were wrong

I got my info from Sat. game, and also from practice reports on this forum, that was telling how practice went, I can't remember who posted the practice reports, but it always stated jg got the 1st team reps. So as you said who really knows for sure how practice reps are going. And I hope maurer gets to play Sat. as well.
