Matt Simms discussion (merged)

confidence.

psh. he never looked like he knew what he was doing. Crompton was just so bad at nearly everything he did. Except throw on the run. I just have a bad taste in my mouth when he would get up off the ground and beg refs for flags. He just never had a defining moment. The one he had, Lincoln took away from him. He was just never anything here.

Don't agree with you on JC. Not sure about Simms yet. He needs to show me more but I'm open minded.

The two things that troubled me about UTM were when he stared down receivers a couple of time and then that he didn't audible when UTM showed 8 in the box.

I just hate Crompton, is all. To each his own. Hopefully Simms shows out. I think he will. There'll be some mistakes. But he'll do a better than good job. Mark it down. I have faith.

Simsm showed confidence last saturday...I would stare down my primary reciever if he was open all day as well...he did check off so im not worried about it. I think he will be just fine..although we will know more this saturday

No reason to beat around the bush about Simms, he is what he is. He is an average quarterback all the way around.

Every one knows you can't build a team around him and he is not the future.

What made Crompton so good last season? Just curious.

Coach Chaney is one of the best in the game at developing young players. if he'd had Crompton 4 years he'd have made him what he was predicted to be coming out of high school.

I was thinking of BCS champions but yeah.

I'm gonna get everyone to buy into Simms before too long. Damn it. Buy in. IN!!!

I'm more into Chaney than Simms. If the kid's got talent, and I believe he does, Chaney will bring out the best in him. Let the master mold.

So far he's shown that he can put some zip on the ball, but there was no touch on the short throws. (On the other hand that puts him in the style of his daddy, as well as Elway, Bradshaw and few other successful QBs --none of whom are my favorites mind you.) 17/12 TD/int in JC is a little troubling as well. But, we do have very little evidence about what he might be capable of.

Having said that, I'm with you on Chaney; whatever Simm's has got we will most likely see the best of it before he's done.

hey he's a simms...has nobody seen his dad or brother play? you cant squeeze a diamond out of a turd.

Simms won't win us any games. It's that simple. He's not a good decision maker. He's got talent it seems, but he just isn't gonna pick apart a defense like manning or ainge. We gotta get a better QB if we are gonna beat anybody serious. We just can't be a one dimensional run only team with our young OL.

Simms may be our best option but that doesn't change the fact that he's garbage. He's a JUCO QB and that's it. Long season... D played well tonight.

Simms isn't the weak part of our team, but we just need to restock all over before we are able to take on any SEC team again...I am pretty saddened by the way we played tonight. We are better than being blown out by a Pac-10 team, and everyone here knows that...

We played great for 1.5 quarters. Then our youth got discouraged and gave it away. Give our guys some credit. They deserve it.

Didn't look bad at all to me. No boneheaded plays, couple of errant balls but that happens.

He played within himself which is exactly what we need him to do.

drink some more jack is is official .bad qb,poor coaching adjustments,no o-line ,no depth no tackling equals 4-8

ever gonna stop?

it seems like last decade we recruited nothing but noodle arms, headcases, and spazs with the occasional average/serviceable guy thrown it.

No, he does not even come close to looking the part, but IMO should start the next several games. There is no need to put Bray in there and shatter his confidence with such a young line.

With that said, however, I do not believe Simms will start every game this year.

None of your adjustments are going to look good if you don't have a qb who can execute. The coaches tried to adjust to a more balanced offense in the second half, but we do not have a qb who can deliver the football to his own receivers.

We were right in the game until the interception.

aside from rick clausen, i would take almost any other starting qb ut has had the last decade over what we have now. i have been saying since the spring that i didn't feel comfortable with simms running the offense. that being said, the qb situation as a whole doesn't look very bright at all this year since i'm not sure bray or any of the other backups can do much better than simms right now. we're just not going to do much at the qb position this year i'm afraid.
