Stocker did drop 3 passes which would have made his percentage look better

Yes and he wasnt the only one dropping catchable balls.

The recieving corp may need to dial up the speed on the jugs gun.

I gave Stocker a pass on one of those balls. Looked like it came fron John Elway.

Stocker dropped 3... Moore dropped 1... He threw 2 away. Thats 6 passes right there. You take those away and he was 14 of 18.

that stuff is true for every stat sheet... if you took it out of all the stat sheets, we'd expect 85% instead of 70%... it doesn't work to start counting drops, throw aways, etc. in order to make you feel better or make simms seem better

this will change. the height of his passes looked great... against undersized, lower caliber athletes. but like someone else said, he's our quarterback for good or ill... i'll be his biggest fan

Usually, 3 batted balls in a game is the most people will look at without raising an eyebrow. His release, although slow (a concern), is plenty high enough.

Didn't look bad at all to me. No boneheaded plays, couple of errant balls but that happens.

He played within himself which is exactly what we need him to do.

If he makes good decisions with the football, I will be satisfied. I didn't really see him make a bad decision with the ball Sat. He was late with the deep ball which is a concern but that may have been mostly for show.

As for footwork... did any of you guys see Heisman candidate K Moore last night? If a guy can consistently get it where it needs to be... maybe footwork isn't that big of an issue.

Oh, he stared the receiver down a couple of times. UTM couldn't capitalize. Others will.

55% is not that bad for his first year.

Peyton set the all time SEC record for season percentage at 64.2%.

Peyton also set the all time SEC career season percentage at 62.49%

Not sure what the doubters expected Simms to do in his first game as a starter. He made very few mistakes and managed the game very well. Was he suppose to pass for 5 TD's, 400 yards with a 80% comp. rate? It was the guys first game. If he plays anywhere close to that against Oregon or UF, I will be thrilled.

If he keeps int's to zero. He's the man.

And I certainly hope he is. Let's hope the first game jitters showed up and improvement is next. That said, with an All Pro Father, one would think his development would be further along.

It was 58%. He is what he is and he is a game manager. As long as he makes the safe throws and relays on the run game we're good with him for two years.

He didn't look bad. He looked decent. I also don't think he was staring down the WR's as much as some imply. He just didn't check off of them as strongly as a great QB could. It was also his first game. He made good decisions it appeared. I would say he is about as good as Crompton finished last year and can actually see the whole field. Crompton was not able to see tyhe whole field. He is light years ahead of where Crompton was last year pre end of Auburn game. If he continues to grow he could do well in the Fl game.

I don't consider Simms a game manager. He'll sling it around, make a few mistakes, but enjoys the competition, and will try his best to put this team on his back. He'll be fun to watch once the season progresses. Homeless man's Brett Favre.

If he completed 100%, some of you would complain that he didn't complete 110%...

Ummm...did I watch the same game as some of you? I give Stocker 1 sure drop. The other 2 were awful passes by Simms. Granted, 1 hit his hands, but it was barely his fingertips and it was behind him. Anyhoo...here is my analysis.

He doesn't make quick enough decisions. How many times did he just hold onto the ball too long only to make a poor running attempt or something of the sort? Too many for my tastes. Although I will say he was improved in the 2nd half.

He misses the easy passes. I saw at least 2 balls bounce at the feet of a WIDE OPEN man in the flat or on a short/mid range out pattern. These are the things that ruin drives and will kill us against real teams.

But I do agree he was MUCH better than early 09 Cromp. Teams will at least have to respect the passing game a little bit...that is if we have any WRs left.

That said...it was week 1. Kellen Moore he is not, but let's see how much he improves.

The mistakes he did make were not INT's which is what mattered to me. He overthrew mostly which is generally better than an under thrown ball because it's where only our reciever could make an attempt, expecially in the end zone. He threw it hard which appeared to be one reason LS had one of his drops. My big concern was him glaring (staring not strong enough) the recievers. That's a major issue but I pray it was due to his reads he was given.
