one thing is apparent, Mac users are as smug, if not more so, than Prius drivers.

For the betterment of civilization, Steve Jobs should be removed from existence. The cloud of smug that follows him puts San Francisco to shame

Familiar, yes. But I've found that Mac OS works much, much better for most. I still run Windows 7 ultimate because I like playing around with Solidworks and Apple doesn't support any decent design options, but after selling computers to the public for a few years now and seeing how they're using them, most of them would be better off saving up and buying Apple.

having someone learn a new OS just to run facebook, word and email is a bit ridiculous. Most people don't get the use out of their current computer and wouldn't benefit from buying an overpriced logo.

Yes you can. I still run all my business software on Windows 7 on my macbook pro.

No, I really can't. Some of them even have to still have windows XP.

I'm telling you for a fact, I can't. I can't even run a linux OS like Xubuntu. I'm not an idiot, I know all about macbooks and dual boots and virtual PC's on linux machines... That doesn't cut it.

Ok. Sorry to have insulted you. I don't use any homemade software.

Consider how often the average uneducated schmuck manages to muck up their comp... Or that many people are dumb enough to buy Dell laptops.

Macbook + Apple Care = idiot-proof

Have an HP Laptop beginning it's 7th year under my abuse. No problems. HP desktop not so good. For my use, I've had good luck with Compaq desktops. But, HP and Compaq are under the same ownership now.

The majority of people don't. Dells and Gateways are usually garbage but people buy them up then end up fixing them or replacing them within 2-3 years time.

HP's either detonate within a year or lasting forevar.

But if they don't get viruses and they don't break, why does the idiot need Apple Care?

I've got a 4 year old Dell and the only real problem is a wobbly screen.

Lucky you. Seen people buying them then proceeding to rip their hair out for years now. They are crap.

My roommate did just recently replace one that he fought with for three years. After dealing with tech support and seeing how quickly they go down, I feel as if I got the rare good machine they put out.

It ain't just Dell. Computers break, and obtaining warranty service or any service in general on a consumer level from any other comp manufacturer not named Apple is a biatch. Apple Care is the only consumer level mfg. computer service that doesn't suck eggs.

I know folks here can provide single anecdotes saying otherwise, but it's what I've dealt with this stuff on a near-daily basis for years now.

we have very few issues with the HP's laptops we use company wide (thousands in service) and getting work done is actually pretty easy. Those aren't single anecdotes

we also couldn't run our business on a Mac so that's out. I would bet we're not alone in that either

this is why I build my own computers. Relying on third parties to build and service a computer is a sure way to lose money.
