On target all freaking night. Now opinions on run game????
I think they rode the hot hand and called enough runs to keep Mizzou honest. Their front 7 is the strength of their D and with their DB out, it was easy picking with AC, JJ, and JP. Once the 2 Freshman get stronger, i think theyll be fine. They definitely need to work on it starting now.

Kid has really come around in these games after Bama, he has kept his head in the game and been a true teammate so much difference now than the game against GT. I have been hard on him for his play at the start of the season but now I can give him praise for hanging tough when he could have just checked out and said "screw this I will play elsewhere." Bravo to you Mr. Guarantano.

He deserves every bit of praise he gets.

He also has deserved every bit of criticism he’s received.

No one deserves to beat their chest. Everybody is a little bit right. No side more than the other.

Great game tonight JG.

No he doesn’t.

He certainly did early in the season.

but he got folks bashing early in this game.....for what? He had folks wanting him benched in the second quarter, when Tennessee was up.

I’ve been pretty critical but I figure it’s time for me to **** the hell up about JG. Mizzou got lit up. The WRs all played a hell of a game but someone had to throw the ball.
Agree I’ve been critical too. But one thing we all fail to realize is the kid has played for 3 different OC. Probably why he struggled so much in beginning. Pretty much what happen to J hurts at Alabama.

This game was dominated by UT, but its just proof that blocked FGs and TOs have a huge impact on a game. As great of a game Jennings played, the 1 play he didnt was a TD that led to the blocked FG. At the least, the score should have been 34-17 (without that last blocked FG Mizzou doesnt score their last FG and makes it closer than it should have been). Possibly 41-17 if Jordan doesnt fumble and we score there. Im just thankful for the players not giving up when bad things went against them this season and they had every reason to want to mail it in.

We only had 1 turnover. We had 520 yards plus got 60 more on offense from their penalties. Even if we make both blocked kicks we only score 30. We had close to 260 yards in the 2nd half and only scored 7 points. Something has to improve for us to take the steps we need to to be a good team.

I hope he does well and starts next week but his receivers played better than he did. He threw to the wrong side of the receivers at times and also threw high and put them in joepary.

Receivers also had 4 drops, 1 of which should've been a TD. You dont throw for 400 yards by mistake.. give props where it's due

We need a running game.

Yes on Guarantano silencing critics.

No on Maurer not having a chance to win this game. He had one bad throw. Don't bash the guy.

Glad we have multiple QBs we can turn to!
We'll just have to respectfully disagree. So, you think a guy with little experience, a propensity to throw INT, a guy who can't make the pre-snap reads and decisions as well as JG would have been able to pass for over 400 yds and not turn the ball over. I'm not knocking Mauer, but he would not have won that game. It took the best QB performance by a Vol QB in over a decade to win that game. Right now, we only have one QB to turn to.

Deserved not deserves.

One is past tense.

He’s had a decent stretch since Bama.

I just don't understand why we can't score with those kind of numbers. Tyler Bray had 4 400+ yard games and we averaged 49.5 points in them. It's crazy to get an excellent performance yards wise but its baffling to not be able to turn it into points.

Not blaming JG for this, but can't explain it.
what’s baffling, 5 game win streak, fans on here went from wanting JG gone to acting like he is Patrick Mahomes, yet each week the O struggles to put up 21 points.
He’s played better but ain’t that much changed except for not throwing INT’s

Maurer was in one play. Qb’s are not responsible for a hard hit by a Defensive player on a Wr. That is a play call scheming issue.

I respectfully disagree. If that ball is not thrown behind Calloway so that he has to stop and turn to catch it, he doesn't get blindsided with his ribs exposed. He might have even gained a lot more yardage on the play.

I think Chandler is on the doghouse for his lack of ball security and JG has difficulty handing off with his wrist injury

I am so freakin happy we won, but I would in no way say Guarantano silenced his critics. He played his tail off tonight, but there were still too many plays where he overshot receivers and held on to the ball too long. But GBO, we going bowling!!!
The result of holding the ball too long is a sack. I saw one. Did he miss a couple throws, yes. OMFG he’s human. Get over yourself. JG played a great game. Best I’ve seen from a Vol QB in a few years. First time in school history with THREE 100 yard receivers. Eighth 400 yard game in school history. He did it against a really good defense. Yes, without question he silenced his critics with his play over the last 4 games. Tonight he cut out there tongue!!!

I always thought that people have been unfair to JG. He's not excellent, but he's not the worst QB we've had lately, the way many people would have you believe (people really have forgotten how terrible Crompton was in 2008), and the Ga State and BYU losses were not his fault. Those games were on the defense.
