ok skeeter, let's define serious improvement. Are we talking about a percentage increase/decrease stats wise across the board?

For example let's say it's 10%, then we will see a 10% increase of improvement in pass completions, 3rd down conversions, rushing yards etc. for Tennessee and a 10% decrease in opposing teams converting 3rd downs, yards gained, plays over 30 yards etc.

Just trying to gauge your commitment level. :)

im all in. i think its fair to say our defense was worn out against the better teams in the second half of games this year. i think we see a drastic improvement in the area next year, that alone will make us much more competitive. i like the fact if bray goes down again we have a promising young qb in worley with a little exp, he will also be stonger and have another year of learning the system. i think peterman will be a force and really push worley early and often.

our oline will be stronger and our running game will reap the benefits with a healthy lane. hopefully hunter is close to 100% and he has no mental setbacks from the injury. i just think we'll be improved pretty much across the board.

Does anyone remember Chuck Smith?? Now, I'm not claiming that Tee is anywhere near the egotistical freak as Smith is, but we have seen what limited coaching experience can get you in the end. Tee is a great guy, I'm sure, but too many more qualified coaches than he is for the job.

Top 25 recruiter

Randall Cobb had 600 more recieving yards when he became the WR coach

Chris Matthews made second all sec and tied the league in td catches.

Was a finalist for Saban's WR job, so if he is good enough for Saban he is good enough for me.

Plus Chuck Smith was never a dline coach, that was his first year.

Quit making crap up. Not true at all that 3000 out of 4000 are ready to fire Dooley. First of all, anybody with any sense knows a radical change would only set this program back further, is what got us into this mess, and is not warranted considering we all knew this was still rebuilding year with our last-year's young freshmen, becoming this year's young sophomores.

Secondly, look at the polls on here; they are about 3 to one give Dooley more time. Quit inventing crap, you troll.

yeah im a troll..hit the ignore button bud.

Chuck may not have been a D-line coach, but he's coached enough people to have more experience than Tee did when he took over at UK. In fact, Tee was a WR coach at a HS before he went to KY. Like I said, love Tee for what he brought us, but not someone I want on staff.

Truth is everything needs to get better up there. Coaching, players , maturity, Administration. It's all got room for drastic improvement.

Yea I feel that way some. I was at the game unfortunately. It was a gut check after 26 years and my 1st visit to commonwealth stadium. I don't have any answers only big concerns of perceived lack of effort and inconceivable lack of rushing. Is it the sprint draw scheme blocking that explains why we are close to bottom nationally or don't we have backs hitting the hole. I'm not advocating firing CDd after 2 years but something is broke why isn't it fixed yet.

Don't you ever go back there! Jinx!

Just kidding... what I noticed was UK wanted it much more then we did. They were hungry for the win and we seemed like we had our bell rung a majority of the time.

As for the blocking scheme, (granted I played Div. 3 college football) my junior year we switched to it and we sucked at it. I moved from fullback to tightend that year and it was hard getting used to our first step not being a drive step in the run game. Basically our footwork was to give the impression of pass on every play. If we faced an evenly strength opponent across from us, we could manage the run plays. However if we faced a much stronger opponent across from us, it really made it hard on run plays.

Oline goes from the worst pass blocking team to one of the best.

and went from a decent run blocking line to God awful

Rivera goes from invisible to on the Mackey Watch list

Surely the NFL TE in front of him last a little to do with that

Da'rick goes from not even being able to run a route to a 1000 yard receiver

And that coach is gone

Total Defense goes from in the 60s to 28th.

Wilcox and company did a better job here until the 3rd quarter

Bray goes from being considered inaccurate and wild to the best qb in the SEC.

Bray is an elite talent at QB. He was an elite talent last year and is an elite talent this year

Couch goes from being considered a bust in early practice to a force on the dline.

Once his knee got healthy, imagine that

Austin Johnson goes from a fullback to our leading tackler.

How many MLBs lead their teams in tackles? That being said, Austin had good season.

Should i go on?

See bolded

Poole ran good with Simms, He would of had a similar year as last year with Simms as qb.

Losses happen, Your acting like we are the only team to lose to a worst team

We should of been 7-6 last year, everyone knows it. Plus we have had the hardest schedule the past 2 years than any team i can think of.

Yea that was bad, but that was without Bray and Hunter.

I just didn't feel like I was watching a well coached team regardless of wins and loses, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

vol fans right now.

volnation currently has more than 4,000 people online and i will assume the majority of those are football fans.
now, say 3,000 of those fans are ready to fire dooley and very unhappy with the program at the moment. those 3,000 will help spread the negativity to atleast 5 other people each with our grand total of unsatisfied customers being 15,000. thats around 7% of neylands capacity.

heres what i propose. everyone settle down and wait to pass judgement on this staff til after its 3rd year. if we dont see serious improvement next year and be competitive in most games like most of us expect, ill in return expose who i am and personally have a dunking booth set up outside the stadium and everyone is invited down to take his or her best shot. oh, ill do it in january.

we'll have some fun one way or the other next year. any takers?

had to edit my percentage

The negativity comes from us fans paying champagne prices for beer results and it as simple as that!!!!!

I'm all in for the positive vibe. I've been behind CDD since day 1, but I'm of the opinion NOW that he's lost at least some control over this situation. Imo, if he doesn't do something drastic to get things on track 2012 will be less than we want it to be and CDD will be pretty much done.

Skeet- Do you think CJC is the right guy to continue leading this offense? Will the players play for him? Will they play for Dooley any more? Is CJC the offensive master mind that some have made him out to be?

I like CJC from his post practice interviews and what not, but I'm not thinking he's the right guy any more. I want CDD to succeed here, but I'm hanging on to that bandwagon by my fingernails. Wilcox is starting to look like the guy that I would like to see replace Dooley if things go that way. fwiw

Those injuries do not affect:
-OL run blocking
-RB ability
-Special team **** ups

We regressed in these areas:
-Rushing O
-Passing O
-Total O
-Scoring O
-Rushing D
-Interceptions Gained
-Turnovers (on D)
-Sacks
-Tackles for Loss
-Punting
-Punt Return D
-Penalties

We progressed in:
-Turnovers (on O)
-Sacks allowed
-Tackles for Loss
-3rd/4th down conversions
-Time of Possesion
-Passing D
-Total D
-First downs allowed
-Punt Returns

We were awesome in punt and kick coverage (minus the Arky game).

Poole ran well against LSU and Bama, better than any other back in the sec, when Simms was qb.

Passing O- We lost Tyler Bray, Justin Hunter, Gerald Jones, Luke Stocker, and D Moore. What do you expect?

Rushing O- Bad, but would of been better with Simms

Total O- Same as above, we lost Bray and Hunter, along with those other guys

Rushing D- We held Spencer Ware, Trent Richardson, and Crowell to under 100 yards. We made Bama pass the ball on us, we definitely got better in that area.

Turnovers- We lost Janzen, PWagg playing out of position, 4 true freshmen playing, lost are leader in Reveiz

Sacks- We didn't do much worst than last year, You forget we play in a run dominated league. Definitely needs to get better though. Got alot better when Mo Couch came along.

TFL- Got alot better once Mo Couch came along, we were using Hood to stop the inside runs.

Punting- Terrible

Punt D- Misleading, you take away the one return and it is very very good

Penalties- New qbs do snap counts differently which causes confusion from the oline. It wouldn't of been as bad if Bray never got hurt.
