Lots of hostile

alot of these guys fail to realize NOONE wanted this job.

I don't believe somebody more qualified didn't want the job. Some one like Sumlin, I think Sumlin is too risky to hire now, but when Kiffin left and we had to choose between Sumlin and Dooley, I think most people would have chosen Sumlin. I also think UT was being cheap when we hired Dooley, gotta spend money to get good coaches.

im all in. i think its fair to say our defense was worn out against the better teams in the second half of games this year. i think we see a drastic improvement in the area next year, that alone will make us much more competitive. i like the fact if bray goes down again we have a promising young qb in worley with a little exp, he will also be stonger and have another year of learning the system. i think peterman will be a force and really push worley early and often.

our oline will be stronger and our running game will reap the benefits with a healthy lane. hopefully hunter is close to 100% and he has no mental setbacks from the injury. i just think we'll be improved pretty much across the board.

I feel that we should be much improved next year as well, can't wait. Thanks skeeter.

The timing was all wrong to be looking for a coach. Probably why they shouldn't have ran right out and got their 6th or 7th choice. It was a bad move and that's about it.

Yep, I was in the Kippy camp. That would have given us a year to make sure we had the right fit. But that ship has sailed. And this one is taking on water. Thought everybody might appreciate my boat analogies.

So Dooley can either have a decent running offense or a good passing offense, he can't have both?

Rivera saw tons of action last year, he rarely caught passes because they all went to Stocker. Rivera is still a mediocre (at best) blocker.

Wilcox did the best he could given what he had. He's not a problem.

I'm sorry some dumbass writer picked an unproven QB over a guy that broke several long standing records in 6 games.

He sprained his knee too. Asthma isn't something you magically cure.

Austin is a good athlete. There aren't too many Vols with a receiving TD and several INTs in their careers here.

Maybe its because Bray isn't the greatest at reading defenses yet and doing audibles.

Rivera would have been involved in the passing game if he was competent. The coaches said earlier in the year he was very inconsistent. He is a mediocre blocker though.

It wasn't just one writer. Even the coaches in the SEC thought so too. They saw his potential but did not expect him to be as dominant as he was this early in his career.

The knee wasn't the main issue for his bad practicing. Asthma forced him to sit out a lot of times and it took awhile for him to get used to the humidity down here. Even when he was in, he wasn't doing that good at all. People were already writing Couch off.

Me engineer so I had a very difficult time getting past the math mistake...off the top of my head, I'm thinking 15,000 divided by 109,583 is more like 12ish %...I know, you already caught it...lol

It is no wonder that we guys can't get a date. But we are handy in the restaurant because we can figure out the correct tip amount

Ok, me in skeeter

i think we see a little different offense next year. its not fair for me to say whether i think cjc is the right man for the job or not. if you go back and look at coaches that has to rebuild a program, usually the 3rd year is when you see the big jump.

Thanks skeeter. I hope you're right. :crossfingers:

Probably should have done what OSU did and hired a interim like Kippy Brown and then gone for a big hire.

ha ima round it off kind of guy, adjusted it around 100,000 so figured about 7%? lol

Oline goes from the worst pass blocking team to one of the best.

Rivera goes from invisible to on the Mackey Watch list

Da'rick goes from not even being able to run a route to a 1000 yard receiver

Total Defense goes from in the 60s to 28th.

Bray goes from being considered inaccurate and wild to the best qb in the SEC.

Couch goes from being considered a bust in early practice to a force on the dline.

Austin Johnson goes from a fullback to our leading tackler.

Should i go on?

OLine - as much as they progressed in the passing game they regressed in the run game if not more

Rivera - had a solid year but 29 catches and 1 TD will not win you a Mackey

Darick - no argument there, spot on

Total D - our top sack guy was 28th in the SEC, last year top guy had 5 sacks - our top DB had 2 int, two had 5 int last year - 8th in sec in pts per game from 9th last year - don't see a lot of progression there

Bray - dont recall wildly innacurate being thrown around - he had a 142 QB rating last year - had a 144 this year - he was good last year and good this year so dont get your point on this one

i was going to let this go as overly positive but ill bite

Couch turned into a decent player which a 4 star JUCO DT should do - he had 1.5 sacks so let's not crown him the next John Henderson yet

AJ did have a good year but he wasnt a FB last year - he was a LB, switched over year before

oh yeah, forgot that stipulation. if wilcox and sirmon were to leave, bet is off lol. our recruiting would go down hard this year.

And For the love of all that is good, I hope Wilcox and Sirmon DON'T leave!!

Rivera had to play with Worley and Simms as qb, he was on the watch list when bray was qb

Total D- We were ranked 28th on total defense. We held a lot of team under 20 points. Sacks are a problem but teams usually try to run the ball down our throats. Interceptions, we had PWagg playing safety, Janzen gone, and 2 true freshmen back there. Of course our secondary won't be great. Janzen made that whole unit extremely better.

Bray- Preseason All Sec, which is chosen by coaches, did not have Bray on one list. They chose Auburn's qb ahead of him if that tells you anything. Bray was considered a true gunslinger and inaccurate by a lot of reporters. No one, not even UT fans, expected him to do as good as he did.

Mo Couch- Never said he was, but you'd be lying if you said he wasn't a great counterpart later in the year to Malik Jackson.

AJ still had very limited experience at MLB, that position is the quarterback on defense, he had to learn the position in less than 2 years, and he exceeded everyone's expectations.

alot of these guys fail to realize NOONE wanted this job.

Horse**** I guarantee you there were plenty of head coaches more qualified then Dooley that would have loved to be the HC at Tennessee. Maybe nobody on Hamilton's short list wanted the job (for what he was willing to offer) anyway. Hamilton's list could have been as long Santa's christmas list and still had coaches more qualified then Dooley. Quit trying to manipulate fans into thinking Dooley was the best we could get.

Bray wasn't even considered on the preseason all SEC team, apparently the feeling wasn't the same from people that aren't tennessee fans.

Austin Johnson led the team in picks too..... Your acting like its easy to tackle. Yes the MLB will more than likely always lead the team in tackling but he still played very solid

Da'rick could only run reverses last year.

If thats the case, why didn't Z. Rogers do any better?

Bray still hasn't done anything against anyone relevant.

AJ wouldn't start on any other team in the league.

Z. Rogers wouldn't start on any other D1 team.

I think the rest of this forum would agree with me in saying, please keep your stupidity to the Mobley thread.
