Looking more and more like DeBord will be the new OC

Why didn't he hire the guy with the 30 years of football experience?
Because he has his guy who he has worked with at 3 places, just like Butch has. Harbaugh has never worked with Debord. Why would he hire him? Should Butch hire Ray Trail because he's in town?

If DeBord is the hire, then Butch Jones is the de facto offensive coordinator. Just as he probably always has been. Nothing would change, which would be the point.

Just as thought, but DeBord could possibly be hired to teach/coach up coach Z into the OC spot. Again just a thought

Would somebody mind summarizing this thread? Has anybody of relevance confirmed that DeBord is the guy? Or is it just more Internet experts?

It was started by the same guy who told us about those transferring players...you know?...the ones who haven't transferred?

I wonder how long Saban worked with Kiffin? This familiar thing cannot be the reason for hiring Debord.

allegedly, He's been on campus the last two days, and first one to be interviewed. People are jumping to conclusions, but there does seem to be some smoke.

Your friends don't always make the best coworkers. Butch's job is to pick the best OC that he can find, not the one he gets along the best with.
Harbaugh hired Tim Drevno as his o-line and co-ord, who has worked with him at San Diego, Stanford, and S.F. 49ers.

He has hired D.J. Durkin as his d-coord, who has worked with Harbaugh as a defensive asst. at Stanford from 07-09.

He has hired Greg Jackson as his secondary coach at Mich, who worked for Harbaugh from 2011-2014 at S.F. 49ers in the same position.

Harbaugh has hired Kevin Tolbert as his S&C coach, who worked for him at Stanford and S.F.

Like I said, Harbaugh has his guys, who he is comfortable with, just like Butch does. So, there goes that argument.

So in essence everyone who has been blaming Bajakian for our inept offense should have been blaming CBJ the whole time?

I don't know if "blame" is the right word, but yeah, I think Bajakian has just been running the offense Butch wants for eight years at three schools. If Butch hires an old friend off the scrap heap that'll just be confirmation that he wants control over the offense. DeBord's job would be to keep things as the same as possible.

Just because he hired his guys doesn't mean they will be successful. So there goes that argument.

Kurt Roper wouldn't be bad. He's pretty much a David Cuttcliffe protege

When DeBord was at Michigan he was considered comparable to David. Every QB he coached ended up in the NFL. David was always a pro style guy but he has installed a passing spread offense at Duke. It is not difficult for a smart coach to make that transition. When Butch worked for him they ran a spread. DeBord was good at a power running game and I can tell that's what we want to do out of our spread. Look at our recruiting of big backs.

Maybe. It's still hard for me to imagine that Debord is the best guy Butch can get.

Hey guys, I know what to do. Let's all make up threads throwing out random $h!* about who the next OC will be. Whoever gets it right gets automatic cred for being a legit insider forever more on VN. Then all you have to do when someone questions you is say....

Check my stats.

Than why hire a guy that doesn't coach QB's or recruit? What does he bring to the team if essentially Butchered is calling the plays?

After working together for 15 more practices, I thought that the young offense looked pretty potent in the bowl game. I don't know that it needs much changing, just more time and experience. We could have scored 60 if we wanted to.

Not according to comments by Butch. He stays out of the playcalling.

I don't doubt that Bajakian has done the actual in-game playcalling. Out of Butch Jones's playbook, according to Butch Jones's philosophy.

Which is why I think Bajakian left for at best a lateral position. If he has any ambition at all then he needs to get out and establish his own identity. And why I'll be surprised if Butch makes what fans will regard as a good hire, because anybody with an established track record will want to come in with his own ideas.

We still finished somewhere around 90th in offense.

I'll try. Some guy who is impressed with his own stats and wants us to check them out. Just about everyone will hate the DeBord hire if it happens because he is bald headed and older. Not young up coming full head OC who would be a sure winner, unlike this old guy with 30yrs. of experience which includes the NFL. All of those who hate this hire have already doom our next season so we are not going to play next year since it's a waste of time since we can't win with this Bald headed older guy.

As for me I save judgment til after the season since I haven't seen this old bald headed guy coach. I don't understand those who want to get bent all out of shape over something that they don't really know is even going to happen. Your employer took a chance on you and you may even be bald headed and older. SO why not give him a chance if he sucks we can all come back and ***** about the old bald headed man together. Until then why don't we back him and hope he is successful. GO VOLS! :)
