Looking more and more like DeBord will be the new OC

I am no expert by any means, but you would think that if the guy was a a great coach someone would have offered him a position over the last 2 years. Again, I'm no X's and O's guru, but it just seems weird to me.

It is definitely a valid concern. DeBord was right there for Harbaugh yet he did not offer him a position. Not as an OC. Not as OL coach. Not anything.

Call me crazy if you wish, but I feel pretty confident that a man with a Master's degree, and 30 years coaching experience on the offensive side of the ball (25 in college and 5 in the NFL), could surely learn Butch's offense.

Hmmm I wonder why this guy, with all this experience, hasn't been guiding some high powered offenses in the past 10 years? Wonder why no other D1 school hasn't given him the chance to be their OC?

I'm a little upset by the fact that Debord seems to be the only guy Butch has even interviewed. This is a horrible hire if true.

All I know is that the football staff operates in a workplace. Debord has been in said workplace with Jones, Jancek, Stripling, and Martinez previously. Mahoney coached at Central Mich the year before Debord was head coach, and Azzanni was a player on that team. I would think that the staff knows his talents better than you or I do.

Yep, and good point. I had not thought about Harbaugh. Does not exactly scream "solid hire."

This hire would be a total train wreck. It doesn't matter how much total experience the guy has. We need a current guy who can inject some life into the offense. A dinosaur, whom cannot even get a job with the current university he works at and is a pro style offensive guy, is not the direction CBJ needs to go with. If this hire is based off of familiarity instead of need and ability, then CBJ is not our guy.

Your friends don't always make the best coworkers. Butch's job is to pick the best OC that he can find, not the one he gets along the best with.

The best coach right now on CBJ's staff would appear to be Jancek. A guy he hired at UC that was out of his little Michigan clique. I hope he realizes this.

He left both of the Coordinators at San Fran....so there goes that argument.
Right, but he named Tim Drevno as his off. coord .at Michigan. Trevno has worked with Harbaugh at San Diego St, Stanford, and the S.F. 49ers. He coached the o-line for 3 years at S.F. under Harbaugh. So, there goes your argument.

Jancek also has SEC experience and has been consistently coaching for a long time. Same cannot be said abou Debord.

Why didn't he hire the guy with the 30 years of football experience?

If DeBord is the hire, then Butch Jones is the de facto offensive coordinator. Just as he probably always has been. Nothing would change, which would be the point.

I think Butch probably realizes that Jancek was the d-line coach at Central Mich in 2003 and 2004, and the d-coord there in 2004.

So in essence everyone who has been blaming Bajakian for our inept offense should have been blaming CBJ the whole time?
