DeBord coached 63 games as OC at Michigan. In 60% of those games, his offenses scored 29 or fewer points. Here's the number of games per scoring range indicated, unadjusted for def./ST scores:

* 0-10 points: 2 games
* 11-15: 4
* 16-20: 8
* 21-25: 9
* 26-30: 15
* 31-35: 11
* 36-40: 7
* 40+: 7

Here is the average (mean) game for a DeBord-coached offense at Michigan; the numbers have been rounded so some percentages may look a little off but are correct:

* Scoring: 28.2 points per game; TDs evenly split between rushing & passing
* Rushing: 42 carries for 160 yards (3.85 yards per carry)
* Passing: 18-31 (59%) for 222 yards (12.34 yards per completion)
* Total Offense: 382 yards (5.30 yards per play)
* First Downs: 19 (45% rushing, 55% passing)
* 3rd Down Conversion %: 43

And while the offensive game has changed significantly since DeBord last headed an offense, here's how those numbers would've ranked nationally in 2014:

* Scoring: 68th
* Rushing: 68th; 91st in YPC
* Passing: 72nd; 54th in YPC
* Total Offense: 81st; 90th in YPP
* First Downs: 97th
* 3rd Down Conversion %: 41st

I just can't see BJ being this dumb. He would be playing suicide with his own job. If this is true then Tn will be hiring a new HC either in 2015-2016. BJ will throw what momentum he has right out the door.

Check his record and see if he is someone you would want. I think not. Randy Sanders called our NC game but who would want him back as an OC right now? Not many if any. The majority of this guy's OC years have NOT been good. With the list of others that is out there, this is a bottom of the barrel hire IF he actually has been hired here.

He says check his stats, what has he gotten right that was inside info? Besides, it would make no sense for them to tell someone that obviously can not keep private until due time.

Call me crazy if you wish, but I feel pretty confident that a man with a Master's degree, and 30 years coaching experience on the offensive side of the ball (25 in college and 5 in the NFL), could surely learn Butch's offense.

Has anyone ever considered that perhaps Jones is using Debord as a person of advice on the upcoming hire he will soon make? I mean he was one of Butch's mentors throughout the beginning of his coaching career, is it not fair to think that he could simply be looking for input on the hire? Other than message board rumors, there isn't really any concrete evidence that he's actually being considered for the job. Just saying.

If he is telling truth, it makes me seriously question who the tell and the fact they have not noticed he has loose lips yet. I do not think this is how or when they would want this info out imo.

I understand, I have my opinion of who I'd like, or even a few who I think would fit. I just see no point in arguing with anybody on here about it because its not gonna have any sway on who Butch hires. Its Hus bed, he'll have to sleep in it. I just hope he makes a good choice whomever he chooses.
