CTV has used the portal to supplement existing talent. I hope he never goes majority portal as not down for pick up baseball or travel team tournament type teams.

This has always been so weird to me. They've got a great stadium, deep pockets, and a big fanbase---but they can't win the big one, and yet it's still considered to be a fantastic job. Maybe has something to do with the big coaching contracts, but they just can't get it done. Plus they have those strange yell leaders.

Lived in Atlanta during 80s and there is not enough money on the planet to move me back there. If Arky doesn't up the ante significantly, why the hell would anyone, including Coach V, ever consider moving to Fville??

I may ruffle a few feathers here, but I think the DW hate is so weird. I understand that people do not like the price increases we are seeing across sports, I don’t either, but I’m not sure how anyone can say it’s because DW is a money hungry, greedy, dollar-worshipping, egotistical, (insert adjective here) monster.

With revenue sharing, NIL, etc., college athletics are in a landscape shift right now and he’s only doing what is necessary to keep us competitive. Success isn’t cheap, especially now that schools have to account for an additional $20 million a year to pay players starting this Fall. If he took the “consumer friendly” route, it very likely would come with a reduction in talent across the board in sports, thus fans would be pissed about lack of success on the field or court instead of the prices and professionalization of college athletics. If it’s not one thing, it would be something else.

I’m not sure what he has done that is at odds with trying to keep us successful in all sports.

Exactly. The disdain directed at DW for trying to navigate this new landscape (and doing it well) is bizarre.

Of course, many of the same ones bitching that he’s money-driven are complaining that we’re being outspent for recruits. It’s nonsensical.

It's simple: a lot of them want some unknown billionaire to come in here and "Daddy Warbucks" us into a football juggernaut, all while not paying a single cent more for their tickets/concessions/parking/etc.

No. The contract says coach can receive 1 performance incentive payment per year, which will be the highest incentive achieved. Basically, it maxes out at $200,000.

The only way I see Tony Vitello leaving the Vols is because of immature fan base disgruntlement. We have characters that are never satisfied. It gets tiresome. Some will complain about this year and only making a Super Regional.

All I want is to maintain the consistency, but yet some will complain.

Arkansas will be in search of a coach in the future and no doubt they will come looking. LSU did it a few years ago and it did not happen but TV knows what he has here.

TV is a class act and it was noted several times after game 2 of the regionals. He spent some time on the field with Arkansas post game 2. Nothing to worry about, but just know he is who he is, a class act.

I don't see him leaving any way for a few more years and Arky will have to more than double DVH's salary to touch Vitello's compensation. If they can do it, why aren't they?

Point taken and I agree. No need to speculate when thought out. Some of our fan base can conjurer up theories that are not even close to the facts just for the drama of it all. I agree with you regarding TV's loyalty and it is sad that some either do the above or just don't see or get it.
My personal belief is TV will be here until he is 90 but some faction will always keep the drama going from within the ranks. It is the nature of the beast. I not a Vol it will be opposing fan bases stirring the pot.
