Let The 2017 Hype Begin

You may want to check the recruiting rankings. Forums are a bunch of people talking. Their were people on the football forum talking about playoffs after the USC loss. Not sure this is the best place for actual news.

Just because there is some crazy stuff on this board, doesn't mean everything is.

Nope. I refuse. I'll simply take the season as it comes, good or bad. After the last 11 years, I'm too much of a "jilted lover" to allow myself to get hyped up.

Correct, but just because people on a recruiting forum are talking good about it doesn't mean its good. And I'm not saying recruiting is all bad, but reading a recruiting forum on vn proves nothing.

I think we can exceed expectations barring injuries in 2017. The tough games are spread out and I just got a gut feeling JG will not only win the QB competition but he will lighting it up by November. My optimism is sky high for team 121 and I am going to pump the hell out of some sunshine from here to September.

Like the enthusiasm. People never do amazing things without pumping sunshine into their ideas.

Excuses my lack of knowledge on the two,but what is making JG better than QD? Is the ability to scramble or arm power/accuracy or a combination?

I'm not following.

If the people in the recruiting forum, or any forum for that matter, are talking good about something or someone, where are they getting thier info to form thier opinion? Just making it up?

If reading a recruiting forum proves nothing, why have one? I guess if you're only interested in your own opinion, I do follow.

He was a physicist, not a philosopher. Math and language are pretty different, and being great at one doesn't mean greatness in the other. BTW negativity like yours has its place, I'm just not sure it's here. Besides, new players, new strength coach, new OC, new DB coach, new starting QB and some of our best players on the DLine coming back healthy isn't really "the same thing."

I know you meant CBJ is the same thing, but then by your logic, every team's record should be EXACTLY the same every year, I guess unless they changed their head coach.

Here's a better quote for sad sacks like you by a wizard of language: "I've had a lot of worries in my life, most of which never happened"- Mark Twain

Right On 👍

Nobody knows how this team will do in 2017.
Anywhere from 8-5 to 11-3 possible.
The difference will be whether we can stop getting gashed by runs up the middle.

"Its all elementry my dear Watson"

Every team's success is measured in wins and losses. Going undefeated requires a formula consisting of talented players in every position of the defense, offense and special teams. It all starts with recruiting players that are already at the level that can immediately compete or those that have a potential to develop. The lack of one position's experience and depth can greatly affect a teams chemistry. It takes years to build a complete team that has reached the level required to win conference championships. We all want our team to excell at the highest level but there are other teams striving for the same. There are so many pieces that must come together to reach that level. It is the responsibility of our administration and coaching staff to find the right pieces and put them in the right positions to get it done. Every year presents different challenges. Here's to hoping 2017's team gets closer to that highest level.

Keys to 2017-18 Vols:
-Solid to spectacular QB play
-Defensive line play
-Staying Healthy overall
-Secondary and Special Teams play
- Turnover creation

7 to 8 wins. Anything less CBJ may be in the hottest of water.

All we need to do is play like we practice. There is no way 120 would have thought they were good enough to get to Tampa, if they didn't have productive practices. 2017 is the year to see the results of their hard work.

Release the Beast!

I'd say if he doesn't reach Atlanta in 2017, he's probably already there.

I was equating it to what you see on this board about the football team. We honestly had people on here talking about still making the playoffs after the USC loss. I don't visit the recruiting forum because I don't really care a lot about recruiting but if its anything like this board, its a bunch of nonsense.

My other issue is that right now recruiting isn't really going to help anything. This staff has yet to prove that it can develop the talent as a team to be considered elite or even great. We have had several 5 star recruits in the last five years and its has produced a mediocre football team thus far and several of the 5 star guys have yet to live up to the potential.

After 60 plus years of watching and being a Vol fan, all these guys on here that can tell the future are kind of funny. No one knows which player will turn out to be a 3 star playing like a 5 star. When the season plays out then we will all know.:)

I agree with you 100%. I remember after the 2004 season how sure everyone was that 2005 would be a championship run. Then after 2005 everyone thought 7 wins would be considered a great season in 2006 with the schedule.

Only thing to gauge predictions is look at the past. Some just don't have blind faith after witnessing last 2 seasons. Not right or wrong to think that. Is what it is.
8-4 was the best they could do twice. Lost alot of fire pwr on offense. And CBJ is still coach. Hard to see anything better.
