AP said he talked to him on the phone after signing and he was talking about being excited to be at Tennessee and never mentioned anything negative. Ohio St tampered and it is the new landscape until somebody sues the heck out of a school.Unless new info has surfaced, sounds like his mother (and perhaps brother) forced him here. If that's the case, he's not at fault - nor "toxic" - and I question why Heupel even signed him. Rescinding the offer would have side-stepped this.
According to multiple reports and an interview the kid called in telling them he was signing with UT. Are you not going to take a commitment from a kid that you heavily recruited? I mean just because a kid backs off of a school and verbally commits to another really means nothing until they actually sign. Feels like it happens yearly with big recruits.Never waste an opportunity to be blindly indignant, eh?
Bey’s release request confirms what we already knew; he didn’t want to be at UT to begin with. Now, if everyone in media was reporting that, how is it possible that Heupel didn’t know? And why would you want to go ahead and sign the guy knowing that?
When considered, mine is a perfectly rational - believable - comment. Anyone with an inkling of what occurred saw this coming. The fault is primarily with his family members and himself, but yes, TN isn’t an innocent party here and has no room to cry or make out like the young fellow is the bad guy. He literally had a flashing sign over his head saying “Not My Choice”.
Put a band-aid on it, tenderfoot.
LMAO...........Sounds like excuses for not recognizing this stuff sooner but I'm going to ride out the next season with your optimism, I don't have a choice.
I have a bad feeling about Knowles and the offense relies too much on a confident QB.
I see a train wreck coming next season. I hope I'm wrong.
Sad for the family. But our organization needs to steer clear of Legend in a dignified, sympathetic way.
I was primarily responding to the folks making Bey out to be to be a bad guy when it appears he was pushed to TN by family, as a minor.According to multiple reports and an interview the kid called in telling them he was signing with UT. Are you not going to take a commitment from a kid that you heavily recruited? I mean just because a kid backs off of a school and verbally commits to another really means nothing until they actually sign. Feels like it happens yearly with big recruits.
I think people are making this out like the staff did not do their job on this one or something.
He was committed to UT before he flipped to OSU. They had a rapport with him and did their research, that's why he called CJH and flipped back on signing day. He didn't just call out of the blue. This is embarrassing. There's a reason this ding dong was even allowed to sign with UT and it's a huge red flag after Nico and Boo. To me this shows both desperation to sign anyone with stars next to their name and a failure to build a rapport and do basic research into the recruit.
There's a reason 5 stars like Nico, Boo and now Legend (the name alone should raise a sceptical eyebrow) will come to UT and it isn't because they want to win or rep the power T.
My point is, why is this a reoccurring thing with this staff? Injuries are enough to deal with, you don't need players sitting out because they're a bitch. Why UT still messin with bitches?
I know all that. WTF was he allowed to sign if there was a good enough rapport to know he was just going to back out. There's no way you can spin this that doesn't look bad on the staff. He was committed to UT before he flipped to OSU. They had a rapport with him and did their research, that's why he called CJH and flipped back on signing day. He didn't just call out of the blue.
