Now that early signing has ended, can he even sign with OSU before the regular signing period beginning Feb 4?

This would be my guess also. I'll try to find out in the next couple of months.

I do believe he may be an extraordinary talent because of the multiple ways he can be deployed but if he doesn't want to be here let him go.
Nope he is a 3 star player. Plenty of guys out there better.

This is embarrassing. There's a reason this ding dong was even allowed to sign with UT and it's a huge red flag after Nico and Boo. To me this shows both desperation to sign anyone with stars next to their name and a failure to build a rapport and do basic research into the recruit.

There's a reason 5 stars like Nico, Boo and now Legend (the name alone should raise a sceptical eyebrow) will come to UT and it isn't because they want to win or rep the power T.

My point is, why is this a reoccurring thing with this staff? Injuries are enough to deal with, you don't need players sitting out because they're a bitch. Why UT still messin with bitches?

I listen to Coach Doug Mathews/Big Orange Sunday regularly. He was talking about National Signing day during both of the last two Big Orange Sunday shows. He did not specifically talk about Bey but said the letter that they sign is no longer a National Letter of Intent as existed previously. The document they sign now is a financial agreement. He said on both last week and the most recent shows that once the letter is signed, they can leave but they have to sit out a year. Does anyone have any additional insight on this? If that is the case, Bey would be free to go to any other school but would have to sit out next year.

If released, he's released FULLY. Financial issues might exist from the contract but he can play IF.... that's the IF..... he is released by UT.

I don't think that's an accurate take. Bey and Boo are two very different cases. Bey's issues look to be coming from people in his ear and are about what school he'll attend. Boo's issues are far deeper than where he'll play school.
Prima donnas are an issue for any team, not just UT. Heupel recruited one famous example, which dealt with, probably too late in hindsight. He inherited another from Beldar and dealt with it too.

With him turning 18 within weeks of signing, mom should have let him sign where he wanted to sign. I blame her on this, maybe coach too if Legend had been telling him where he wanted to sign.

Sounds like excuses for not recognizing this stuff sooner but I'm going to ride out the next season with your optimism, I don't have a choice.

I have a bad feeling about Knowles and the offense relies too much on a confident QB.

I see a train wreck coming next season. I hope I'm wrong.

I would just release him. Cut ties and move on, quickly. Besides, just sign him again when he hits the portal next year.
DW has a much more complete fact set than the rest of the free world, taking exception to the timing of our response PUBLICLY is character challenging too.

He has input from the player, the family, their advisors, our staff, our legal department, probably our players and the NCAA compliance folks dealing with these ever morphing rules without precedents to call on regarding new signing days.

As usual, too many declarative statements and not enough REAL questions while applying our free speech rights. AND AND AND the application of “I hope I am wrong” does not mitigate the impact of these internal challenges. You can’t put the mattresses back on the bed.

The kid didn’t nothing wrong. He just has his heart set on OSU. It’s the parents that forced him to sign here. Letting him go quick and easy is the right thing to do. And if we handle this well, maybe we’ll see him down the line in the transfer portal someday, who knows.
Did he or his family make the call on signing day?

Did he actually sign the documents and send them in?

Did both sides execute Financial documents and NLI that day? Did money change hands? If so have these issues been legally resolved?

How can you take your position without the answers to these questions.

Not going to vilify the kid, nor the family. What if the family was right about his BEST path? I can see the kid loving the shiny current NC and now see no path for him here, nor a need to give him a release till all the legal issues are positively resolved.

It would be stupid to expedite the release and assist any school to legally admit him with ANY exposure. Once again, DW has this and will deal with all aspects of this situation.

Bey, I never wanted him to start with the moment he began waffling around. We need to keep those recruits away from this school. We only want dedicated winners!
