Larry Porter- Running Backs Coach Candidate

Just wondering, why would we want to bring on a coach, who before he bolted, helped get LSU in trouble with the NCAA before he went to Tiger High?? We don't need any of the crap on staff right now.

Just so we're clear, you don't want Porter on staff? Wow.

Considering that we have had enough nosing around from the NCAA, no. LSU is still under investigation for it, if I'm not mistaken. Plenty of other good RB coaches out there without the baggage.

Read on tos is CDD has offered Larry Porter job to coach running backs . The Grad assistant that was doing it is gone now.
tfwiw just passing along another rumor.

Being offered the job and accepting it are 2 different animals. There are like 5 different SEC teams that are after him, from what I read elsewhere. If Dooley has been told that he is staying, then I hope Porter does come, and that Dooley hits some homeruns on the other staff positions (OL, OC, DB, ST). Kiffin is killing it at USC. While Dooley has laid an egg.

Whether this really happened or not, it needs to. Porter is a stud RB coach and we desperately need one. If the grad assistant didn't leave on his on, he should have been let go. You make room for a guy like Porter if you can get him.

I think this would be a great move. From everything I've read he's a great recruiter with good connections to the Memphis area.

The GA had no choice and neither did Dooley. His 2 year term will expire soon

Would be a good move, good for recruiting and Porter was well-though of as an assistant at LSU if I'm not mistaken.

We could definitely use a soild RB coach (and a special teams coach).
