Larry Porter- Running Backs Coach Candidate

Whether this really happened or not, it needs to. Porter is a stud RB coach and we desperately need one. If the grad assistant didn't leave on his on, he should have been let go. You make room for a guy like Porter if you can get him.

He is a DAMN good recruiter too. Garner, but with coaching skills IMO.

Also I do think the biggest run game issue was the fact it had no voice with clout. Chaney is all pass and you had a GA as the RB coach.
Porter would have a voice and as a former HC succesful or not he'd be better equipped to push for the right improvements, play calls, etc.

He needs at least a dependable 2 deep. Neal and Smith are not what I'd classify as dependable right now and even Lane was banged up. TBH it's hard for me to make out what our run game could or should look like as unorganized as it was this year.

I can't even say we had one. It was obvious when we would run. Sending a player in motion only to watch Poole run into an offensive lineman's ass. When we got a big run play , it was nothing short of a miracle. Lane would break outside and find some room. And I can count on one hand how many big running plays we had. There really wasn't an actual running game in this offense. When we lost Hunter everything changed. The big pass play made way for the run. They counted on that way too much in my opinion. After 3rd down on the first drive of the Florida game , the plan we had died. They never figured out how to change things up and everything fell apart. That is what I don't get about our offense. It was like we had a great plan that didn't work and nobody did anything to try and figure out a new one. I mean , what happend ... did somebody suggest that we should run the wildcat with about 3 games to go as an answer? Bottom line , it was too predictable.

I agree and I think there wasn't a plan B with much of a voice. Chaney's not a Swiss army knife type play caller. He's a very nitch guy. I think next year is his last unless Bray and crew simply set the world on fire.

If Porter can get our backs in gear... Hopefully Chaney will be able to call more run plays and actually have them be effective....

Google says McCarthy not Porter re: LSU violations.

i know of 1 offer he has.

Yeah, but there is no way that we get him. If you would spend any time reading this message board you would know that we are a sinking ship and everybody is bailing on us. If everybody is bailing on us then why would a highly regardes assistant possibly want to come on board.

/sarcasm
