LaMarcus Coker

I know it's not cocaine, but there is a thing called maturity and integrity and he immaturely disobeyed the law and the ncaa regulations multiple times despite the various opportunities he was graciously given.

No doubt, I agree 100% that he didn't do what he was supposed to. Thing is, it's almost a year later and people still can't accept the fact he isn't here. Was LaMarcus selfish in his actions, yes without a doubt. Is it for us to decide what kind of person he may or may not be, I would say no even though I was as vocal as anyone in the disappointed choir last year. We all know that drugs are not acceptable in athletes lives, but it's not for us to say why they did them in the first place. I'm not perfect so I will try my best not to pass the judgment.

Now that I do agree with you about letting it go. That is why i didn't chime in until like page 3 or 4 because of the discussion. I hope totally, that Coker gets his life together and lives a prosperous life.

He made a mistake, but i know God gives us more than one chance in our lives: if He didn't we'd all be in trouble.

I would say that LaMarcus could care less about yours or anyone else's expectations for that matter. He's gone and that's where it should be left. You must still hold Reggie Cobb over the fire as well. It is disappointing that athletes do these things, but hey its their life and they and this team moved on. So should you.

Exactly...So tell me again why I should give a crap about him?

Sorry I didn't really look through to see. This may be a dumb question but can he come back?

With logic like this, all teachers, leaders, & parents never should say anything bc it is "judgment". So mr. inconsistant...are you judging me for judging...? How dare you judge me...what a joke.

No, I am talking about labeling him not worthy of any support or well wishes for his life and why he did it. Why don't you read the post I was quoting instead of trying to make your argument hold water. As far as you judging someone, that's your business and you have to answer for that not me. So by all means go for it, O master of logic.

I support people every week, if you'd read my previous posts you'd have known that. I don't judge people, that's what you said. I help them get past their mistakes. You & the "recreational user" are acting like it's no big deal to toke, and I'll jump all night & day against ideals like that. Try telling that to the thousads of people that are bound in their addiction to pot & other stuff. Pot is mearly a gateway drug. It is wrong and so is the other stuff. I'm in the courtroom with these guys that get their slap on the wrist (a fine) and they go on to it again. A fine isn't the answer either, but I do agree with the overpopulated jails prob; that's a tough spot to be in.

I'm sorry, but alcoholism is a bigger problem than weed. I also wasn't referring to you in particular, but overseasorange's post.

Coker was good.

Why can these guys not stay out of trouble when they get in college?

I'm def with you there, but in dealing with multi-addictions, to justify one is working against yourself. Hey I think smoking cigs are worse, and we get to that as well. I just hate the ideal that pot is just like cigs though. They cause so many other probs which you don't want me to post. I really really really hope LC kicks this, bc he was such a special player & I was behind him & still am. I just hate to see guys live our dream. We get to chat about it while they really get to be on that field. WOW! It hurts me to know how kids just keep on being dumb and mess something up for them that could be so special for them for a long time.

it's basic common sense that weed is much less harmful than other drugs and its use is much more widespread. whether another drug could take it's place in the arbitrary position of "gateway drug" is irrelevant, the fact is that decriminalization of marijuana would essentially remove the effect from the safest and most commonly used substance available, which is clearly desirable to what you have now.

You sound like the commercials on TV now I can just picture the little kid ridding his bike in the middle of a busy intersection and the kids who are smoking pot in their car at the drive through pull forward and run him over.......
Its a plant....That if you just so happen to light it on "Fire" has some wonderful side affects.:lolabove

I was trying to get off this topic, bc there is an obvious disagreement. You don't know much about poppy plants or opiats do you, or how about the coca leaf...? These plants produce all the major drugs.

Yeah But you have to chemically do something to them to make that drug. Not Marijuana.
