But OU has made sure of that haven't they? They spend the money to upgrade the stadium which could have been done elsewhere but now OU has home games til what 35? And lets be honest there is nothing special about that stadium it is mostly temporary bleachers. Good for them for spending the money and getting an advantage. Kinda like when the baseball team had to play at Southern Miss cause the capacity was greater but most of that was people on berms in the outfield. We didn't lose because of the stadium in the end but poor execution in key situations and poor coaching at times.

Oklahoma is a younger team than us and comes in and still wins the SEC regular season and tournament championship in their first year. We win the series at their place and thats no easy task. This would have been the year to get a Natty but now it's gone.

Hindsight is ALWAYS 20/20...It blows my mind how this fanbase acts/reacts sometimes...Just incredible to read some of these posts..A crystal ball is a wonderful thing.......

Same old same old. OU didn’t and doesn’t spend the money on Devon Park. Karen spoke out of both sides of her mouth when she said “You also have 9,900 people on your side” but said the environment didn’t faze them. Which is it? It does or it doesn’t.

No doubt. OU only loses one player in the batting lineup, Syd Sanders at 1st base. This is the year to get them

Karen can call out the fact that Oklahoma has the home field advantage while also saying her team was not fazed (as shown until the last play of the game). Why can't you stop your Darth act. You're not fooling anyone.

I totally agree with this. No team should have the home field advantage year after year in a National Championship contest. They just shouldn't.

First time posting here on the softball forum. Just want to echo what a crushing blow that was last night. I am still sincerely in a funk. We had them! I am still so proud of our team.

Welcome to the Friday heartbreak club thread. Other than a couple of Sooner fans who come here to gloat, the rest of us are bummed.

The WCWS has just been held at Oklahoma City since 1990.

As usual you have one fan on the Fulmer train. Fulmer had great coaches around him and stabbed John Majors in the back to get ahead. Fulmer won when the SEC had Tennessee and Florida. Karen is just as the poster said, she for sure won’t out coach you but has enough talent on the team to keep the naysayers away most of the time. Then we get to big games and she continues to get out coached in big moments. The girl had already hit a home run, walk her and make a freshman beat you. It’s not rocket science. Geez why do we always have to make Fulmer look like a hero. He just about destroyed our Athletic Department.

IMO, there's no reason to be mad about anything, or to question the decision to pitch to her. I was so spectacularly heartbreaking that I honestly do feel like there is something far bigger than this one game in play. Anyone else know what I mean?

It’s not up to Karlyn to pitch to her. It’s CKW decision and she didn’t make the right decision to walk her in that instance. Karlyn shouldn’t have been given that option. Walk the girl and let Karlyn pitch to a freshman. If a freshman beats you, then you tip your hat to Oklahoma. Karlyn shouldn’t have been given the option to pitch to her. That’s a coaching decision and an easy one given the magnitude of the situation.

If I can count correctly and the historical info I pulled is accurate, Weekly is now 16-17 all-time in the WCWS.

It's tough because the softball program is what it is largely because of her efforts, but at the same time softball isn't a super competitively deep sport. You play a lot of teams you completely overmatch over the course of a season (especially earlier on in the sport's history) and she's basically a .500 coach when facing good competition.

Nice use of moving the goal post to a separate topic. Are we discussing winning or are we discussing Majors health/AD issues? Pick a lane and come back when you’re ready. Something tells me you celebrated the 1998 title though.
