Lady Vols vs Sooners game 1

My son’s girlfriend is a D1 pitcher and I’m not sure how I would react if what happened today happened to her. The whole family would have PTSD unless we won it all. Just crushing

I think pitching around a good hitter might be harder, especially since pitchers practice trying to throw strikes which is hard enough. Why even try to finesse pitch around a .419 hitter who had homered earlier off you? With the potential winning run at the plate, just walk the hitter and take your chances on getting the next batter out. Odds are she would not beat you.

As Karlyn was about to pitch to that last batter I was sitting there thinking how I wish we'd put her on. I just had a bad feeling about her batting.

But immediately after that thought, I also was thinking that the game belongs to Karlyn, and if she wants to pitch to her, then she should, regardless of what might happen if she does.

Life is just like that sometimes, and because it was such a dramatic moment in Karlyn's life, I suspect there may be a very important reason it went the way it did -- for both heartbroken pitcher AND elated batter.

IMO, there's no reason to be mad about anything, or to question the decision to pitch to her. I was so spectacularly heartbreaking that I honestly do feel like there is something far bigger than this one game in play. Anyone else know what I mean?

The game ended 3 hours ago and I’m still reliving it in my brain! I can only imagine the hurt Ms. Pickens must feel. She needs Vol Nation support now more than ever!

I would probably have walked Parker! But that is the benefit of 20/20 hind sight. Old school baseball rule is never intentionally walk the winning run. But at the same time you can't give her anything she can drive because... well, she is the winning run.

I was very disappointed with the loss.
But understand Oklahoma is a great team and beating them required our A game for 7 innings. Unfortunately, we struggled with control and pitching to spots in the last three innings.

Ella Parker is a great player. She is the niece of Dave Roberts, manager of LA Dodgers current MLB WS champions.

These young ladies need to get major pi**ed off about this game and dedicate themselves to winning the next games and playing Oklahoma again to get their revenge.
On a different subject, I think it is time to play this series somewhere else instead of giving Oklahoma annual home games in the WCWS.

Good grief the Monday morning quarterbacks. We lost a close game away playing a 4 time in a row WCWS team. Go Vols! Give it all you got tomorrow or next games. I support you. Losses hurt. Play better. It isn't the end of the earth.

Play it where? There is not another softball stadium with 13k capacity along with the practice fields that can handle it.

I have so many thoughts about this game I don’t even know where to begin. It’s been hours and I’m still reeling. I can only imagine how our players, especially Karlyn, feels. I expected to see her in the post game presser, but she wasn’t. That’s worrisome. I am TIRED of losing when it matters!

Hate to say it but I agree somewhat, don’t agree on the run rule as we have offense.

Hard to come back from having victory snatched away from you like that. Everyone sleeping tonight on the team is wondering what they could have done differently and it’s going to mess up the mental space for tomorrow.

I pray for a different outcome for sure! #GBO
