Knowles Expected to be DC

I'm inclined to believe that UCLA game was just a complete team no show. They had just come off a really tough loss at home to Oregon in OT and were facing a UCLA team that hadn't won a game, on the west coast in a half empty stadium. I think it is fair to assume they thought they would just show up and roll them.
UCLA also had a new coach, so there were probably more plays than usual that weren't on film

Did we just trade a ♠️ for a ♠️?
It seems that way. A lot of the analysis I saw on Banks’ defense was that it was complicated and it seems to be the general consensus here that this guys defense is also complicated. So is that a problem with the talent then on the team? What do we get out of this if we basically got another defensive coordinator with a complicated scheme that the kids can’t run?

Kinda torn on this one.

His defenses at tOSU were unbelievable. That being said, with that amount of talent the Suckeyes could most likely name my 86 year old mother as D coordinator and still be lock down. Her knowledge of football is limited to the QB is the one who throws the ball.

The stop at PSU this last season scares me

I'm also curious as to Heupels fascination with PSU DCs. Didn't we pull Banks from there also??

After 5 others turned us down.

Yep. I don't believe this will work out at all.

The breakdown of Knowles/his defenses is it always takes a year for it to get properly implemented. Apparently a very complicated/hard to learn scheme, but once learned, is really good.

Which makes one question why we'd go with him considering this fan base couldn't handle a single down year from Banks, but whatever I guess.

Like the hire, but it will likely require patience before elite results are seen.
One down year? The defense was better last year but they have never been truly elite. One good year doesn't out weigh the other 4 bad years.

-VN thinks Tim Banks sucks and has pretty much said anyone is an upgrade.
- VN says Josh Heupel won’t fire his buddy Banks.
-Heupel cans Banks. The DC search is on.
- Started to hear traction about Ryan Walters being the guy.
-VN seems to be kind of excited.
-However you wanna slice it, Jim Knowles has been a top defensive name in CF for quite a few years.
-Most on VN had him as one of their dream hires.
-Of course most on here, including myself, said Knowles would be a fantastic hire but it’s nothing but a pipe dream.
-All of a sudden that pipe dream seems to be more of a reality. Josh Heupel went out and possibly hired one of the biggest names in college football.
-As expected, we have dumb fans that somehow are upset and finding fault with Heupel hiring someone like Knowles.

Good God 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄. I guess to some of you Josh Heupel can’t do anything right.
