I’m for anything that F**** Bama! This may seem laughable, but you have to consider Tuscaloosa. Deboer is facing the impossible task of following Saban. Some weren't crazy about the hire in the first place, there were already calls for his firing last year, and guarantee there will be more if he does anything short of a national title game appearance. (Personally, I think they lose in the first round to Oklahoma.)
Now, considering Michigan: they're in a huge mess right now. They need a complete reset with someone actually competent. They have a $10 million arm at QB. Deboer has ties to the area (OC at Eastern Michigan) and the Big10 at large, and probably knows he'd be given much more rope than with Bama. It's not the craziest idea.
Like it or not, Michigan is a blue blood college program with resources and history that rival any SEC school, and they will definitely make a run at Deboer. And that would be great if they landed him--it would put Bama in a tough spot.
I'd like to nail down the Knowles hire ASAP because I don't like the idea of programs like Michigan and/or Alabama having a HC opening before we have him in house.michigan message boards are thinking they are going to make a run at Deboer or Gruden![]()

Bro, you're totally right. Talent and depth means nothing. Probations and years of cellar dwelling definitely have never held a program back. We should be 15-0 every year. So, basically, we are entering the 2nd rebuild phase of Heupel's master 12-year program to get us ready for a 4-year effort to prepare to make a run at planning for a great year?
Patience is key. Remember what Heupel inherited, and the 16-20 year rebuild effort needed for such a situation. We are lucky to have such a mastermind in charge of all of this.
This is correct. It’s a complex system and takes time, but once it’s implemented, it will work well with the type of athletes you’ll get at Tennessee. The players just need a year or so to adjust. He had only one year at Penn State, and that wasn’t enough time - it would’ve been interesting to see how their defense might have improved in year two under his system. It was successful at Ohio State; however, I do prefer Patricia’s defense slightly more. One concern i've heard is that his defense is complicated and requires a learning curve. Some concerns about how well the players can perform in 1 year.
Maybe the thought is a "push" for next year and set up 27-30 for a run with Faze as QB?
It shouldn't be to hard to learn since we already ran a 4-2-5. Personal wise we have some of the right guys. This is correct. The lineman would changes sides depending were they were at on the field. So every lineman had to know both positions left and right not to mention if they were supposed to learn another position like a left tackle needing to know to play right tackle plus also needing to know how to play left guard and right as a backup. It was overly complicated for no reason.Dave Clawson OC?
