Kirby = Fulmer

He will never be the same. Winning it at alma mater changes EVERYTHING! He will not be able to manage it!
Unfortunately Kirby has a built in recruiting base to sustain success longer than Fulmer. CFP didn't have the ability to change philosophy until it was late and also outside of Cut didn't have the staff was willing to be poached by other programs.

Fulmer did the same thing but couldn’t sustain on field success, big head, choked, and Kirby has already shown his first four years that he’s more likely to choke than to win big.
Fulmer's issue was replacing assistance coaches when they left for other positions, and keeping coaches that weren't pulling their weight as well...When Penn State won the Citrus Bowl in '94, Fulmer went out and hired the best S&C coach he could find in Stuckey...Great move but when Stuckey got sick and retired, he promoted Johnny Long...(C'mon Man). Same for replacing Cut with Sanders...Recruiting was never the issue under Fulmer...

UGA will dominate the East until two other teams are able to take them. That’s exactly what happened to us. We only had to worry about UF during the 90’s but when UGA stepped up in the early 2000’s, we took a step back.
UGA under Donnan to Richt
USC from Holtz to Spuerrier
Florida stayed consistent even under Zook

We slowly went from potential East champ to trying to hold the 3rd spot.

The main thing to fear is that CPF did what he did recruiting uphill and Kirby downhill. Easier to sustain success when your natural recruiting area is as rich as GA. But it can be messed up... see FL. Nobody knows how One Time and NIL will impact sustaining those on top. Easy to speculate but only time will tell. Will talented guys stick around when they are not THE guy? Different answers for different guys. If not, where will they go and how will that impact the balance of power? Sit back and watch I guess.

Truth to this. The fact Long was not hired away prior to taking over is a problem within the problem about staff not being poached.

Ga don't win if Bama had some help at wr. So many dropped passes and mediocre play there tonight

LOL, it's called football.....injuries are a part of the game/season.... Ga had a lot of studs that were out as well and had been out for most of the season. The injury excuse needs to go.

We may also see TA&M taking charge of the SEC West for a few years. Saban will likely retire in the next 2 years.
The good ting about Smart, he is not as good of coach as Saban, and he will still lose game he should win. When we get our defensive players in place, we will beat him in the next 2-3 years.

Be interesting this fall. Georgia more than likely, loses there whole defense. Tennessee needs more defensive players

If you mean that Kirby’s best attribute is his ability to assembly better talent then I agree, he’s similar to Fulmer. And as others have mentioned, he also has a very good OC similar to Cutcliff under Fulmer.
But Kirby did show a willingness to change. He implemented a team building strategy last year - very similar to what many companies utilize - that really improved the team chemistry. We’ll have to see how he evolves - does he now loosen the reigns and become more of a strategic leader or does he - like Fulmer did - tighten up and become even more of a micromanager. Regardless his path, Georgia is gonna be a tough team for the foreseeable future.

They're not going anywhere with the way they're recruiting. Even average coaches can look good with that type of talent, ask Jeremy Pruitt and he isn't even average..

Everyone saying this why??? Kirby has been a head coach for 6 years.....Look at what he has done. Taken a good team (Richt wasn't bad) and elevated it to the pinnacle of the sport. He has many good to great years left.

Well yeah, but when you lose 2 guys like that on offense, I don't care who you are, it hurts. That's probably 25% or more of their offensive production just from Metchi.

I think Kirby may have called some recruits in between the trophy presentation and his press conference. He will always have elite athletes, but I agree that he will likely coast a bit in the coaching department, on and off the field. Could see a decline from them after this similar to Fulmer's.
