But to answer your question, go listen to this: here’s where it’s coming from :

Once you listen to it though, ask yourself why 2 years into her tenure we never once heard this as an issue, but now suddenly “5 people” from the school was texting this info.

All this to protect a coach who hasn't done **** at the D1 level 😞

Conveniently ignoring her 1st season .....
You mean the year where she beat UConn and made the Sweet 16? I haven't forgotten about that, but when other teams made adjustments to her system she got found out quickly. Would you be defending her if she hadn't beaten UConn? Be honest

She had a solid first season — honestly, that’s probably the only reason she still has a job right now.

What’s ironic is hearing the pro-Kim crowd say she “just needs time” and “her own players”… when the success everyone keeps pointing to came with Kellie’s roster.

You can’t have it both ways. So which is it? Was last year proof she’s a great coach? Or was it the product of inheriting someone else’s players? Pick a lane and then make the argument of why it’s going to be different in year 3. I can respect that.

You wouldn't be defending her if she hadn't beaten UConn in year one. That's all anyone who defends her has to hang their hats on, a one-off victory over a hated rival who then adjusted the following year and kicked our ass by 30 points.
I think there is a lot more to it than that. I was having fun as a Tennessee fan for the first time in a long time last year. They were competitive in almost every game and just fun to watch and easy to root for. The players they brought in in the transfer portal exceeded expectations. The energy during games and around the program was just really good and it felt like things were moving in the right direction.

Obviously things have taken quite the turn but to act like the only good thing about last year was the UConn win is unfair and untrue.

I agree, but I also think people neglect that there were some pretty low lows. Last season was the first time I ever left a game at the half when we played South Carolina at home. it was the first time I've ever turned the game off at halftime when we played Kentucky on the road. The only reason we stayed for the entirety of the Georgia game was because it was senior day.

Editing to just say that I do think the culture was better last season, but the system is clearly pretty volatile. When a coach figures it out or it's a bad matchup, it seems like they are really able to exploit it and wreck us. For a team of very young players who did not have the culture that last year's team did, it's easy to see how things would fall apart in the middle of the season.

Someone else's players had to adapt to her system.... Let's not forget that btw...

You know, this day in the life of women's college basketball is a carousel and probably 95% of its' teams are currently involved in it...with the portal era taking so many good players from their currently winning teams to Geno's more than odd episode with Coach Staley last night, the college basketball world is at its peak with mystery and suspense...[in today's world] personally I don't think Uconn will win another natty under Geno...maybe last night's episode was his outlet to step away and open the door for Shea Ralph...ANYWAY, [with the LVs situation] I don't think it could get any worse...for the sake of rational optimism, [ come what may ] things will soon start to get better...we should sit back and wait for it [ for it is out of our control] LVFL 🧡💙🧡

Same here. It is tempting to say that year 3 will be the tie breaker but the apologist --i.e.the same one who celebrated this year's recruiting class wildly to then determined they were all talentless cancers-- will say that how can we expect to fairly judge Kim after she had to completely rebuild her roster?

On last year, I am still sticking with the claim that the team underachieved. It was a very balanced squad and had a talented and experienced PG in Spencer running the show. Had Kellie or any coach preaching sound fundamentals had that team, they would have done better than 8-8 in conference (and without a lot less volatility in their losses) .

Last season, particularly after the first 10 games, everyone figured how to beat our press and the offensive worked okay not because of the scheme but because players like Spencer, Whitehorn, and Spear knew how to run decent improvised sets. Not as much pressure was put in the shoulders of Coop, and Spearman to create things.

Thanks. My answer to your question would be. Year 1 was new to everyone and somewhat successful. So the players and coaches believed in CKC and the “system”. Year 2, all stars ( spoiled ones at that) lost faith in the system and confided into a coach who began to waiver as well and instead of convincing the players to stick to it and believe, the coach cowards down to the players feelings and we see what happened. Now again I'm Not in the locker room and the way the players started acting and playing in February. It kinda adds up.

Not defending her just saying some fans are cherry picking to make their battle look extremely great. Caldwell went to sweet 16 in her first season with players that had to adapt to her system..let's not overlook that ...
