wondering what happens if/when Kavanaugh gets confirmed and the next one comes around. Will the Dems have shot their proverbial load? Can they honestly go thru this much effort again? I am imagining they are burning political capital pretty fast.
On the laundering/gambling thing his written answers explain the situation easily. Seem's Whitehouse's gambling "investigation" stems from an email where K. made some reference to his reactions to a dice game. That's it. No other evidence of any gambling at all. As for debts being reduced the timing of purchase of a block of season tickets and reimbursement from friends along with a pay raise, his wife going back to work, a back pay settlement and assistance from family are all legit.
IOW - there is no evidence that he's a gambler at all.
I would agree except that they allude to information being brought to them in the last couple of days. We don't know what that information is or who it is coming from, but it was significant enough and had enough credibility for them to turn it over to the FBI.
I get your complaint that its a stunt. Maybe you are right. I just don't know right now.
I just want to know what it would take for some of these people. for me & Trump, really anyone, is they have to prove he is guilty. and if you can't prove it, he is innocent. for the left it seems to be if he isn't found guilty they just haven't found/made up the right crime yet.I doubt it. The base laps this up and is the driving force behind it. As long as the opponent is Trump the large pool of swing voters will be torn between nutjob options.
Best opportunity for a third party but it won't happen.
Another hypothetical. Just throwing it out there. This high school thing just seems far-fetched to me unless we're talking about something really serious.
The Feinstein material that she was until recently refused to share with the other Dems seems to be the focus
That is not what the news report said. It is something they got just in the last day or so.
and it is widely speculated to be dealing with some high school incident.
"Widely speculated"? By who?
(I'll remind you of this post by you the next time you complain of anonymous sourcing.)
You might be right. It just seems unlikely to me that there would be all of this skullduggery or that they would turn something over to the FBI on this over a "high school incident."
The left wouldn't do that now would they?the article linked here suggests the story passed through several people before it reached Feinstein - someone told someone who told the person who sent it to Feinstein (I might have missed one in there). The story also suggested other people had heard of an incident and while the details varied there was a common theme. If the story has been floating around that long and was criminal (FBI worthy) some actions would have been taken or at least records would exist.
my bet is it (the letter to Feinstein) will be leaked, it might be something embarrassing but not FBI worthy, K. opponents will scream about it, but as LG suggests unless he drops out (or it really is bad) the end result will be more character assassination and more division but confirmation.
Oh snap. S**t just got real. Something is being referred to the FBI.
