If I recall correctly, he also promised very highly of one Josh Dobbs. I'll take it.QB guru Trent Dilfer has just made the statement that incoming vol freshman QB compares closely and could become the next Deshaun Watson! We are about to enter a return to glory these next few years. This is great news to hear, and especially now that he will be playing in a pass happy explosive CJH offense!
This is Difler on Guarantano:
Trent Dilfer, head of the Elite 11 and former NFL quarterback, during Guarantano’s recruitment.
“He’s almost too talented,” Dilfer said, via FOX Sports. “Essentially, Guarantano can make every throw in the book — and do so with unmatched speed and power… He’s got everything you could ever want.”
Unmatched speed and power ? Everything you could ever want !!
Renowned QB guru reportedly views Tennessee’s Jarrett Guarantano as the SEC prototype under center
Other QB guru comapred him to Cam Newton !!
so take it with a grain of salt![]()
Nope. You obviously didn't see the throws he managed to get right. JG had a lot of zip (power) on his passes, but he couldn't throttle it on the short and medium routes. He also could make every throw required of a QB but stared down receivers on sideline routes and too often threw jump balls down the field. Had the physical gifts.
Most of JG's problem was between his ears. He was simply too slow in processing information. You obviously didn't see the throws he managed to get right. Heard the same for JT Shrout too.QB guru Trent Dilfer has just made the statement that incoming vol freshman QB compares closely and could become the next Deshaun Watson! We never questioned JG's talent. He looked the part. The problem was above the shoulders with that kid. He got brutally beaten early in his career and had 100 different OC's. He was basically damaged beyond repair. Two things can be true. You can be talented and still suck. This is Difler on Guarantano:

Good point on the long delivery. Most of JG's problem was between his ears. He was simply too slow in processing information.
The one criticism you could make of his throwing ability is that he wound up and had a little bit of a long delivery. He tried to make up for it with velocity which caused other problems.
I questioned his talent because I don't make a habit any more of jumping ahead because of "stars".... I learned that lesson the hard way too many times. We never questioned JG's talent.
